On January 24, the duo will be joined at Leo's in Oakland by Queens D. Light and Kid Trails, with Yalls playing a DJ set. Check out all you need to know about the show along with a video version of the flier from Feighan (who also designed the static flier above and Foreign Pedestrians' album art. Soundwave hosts Yalls performance on the Bay this weekend
San Francisco's Soundwave art and music festival is ending its sixth season of programming with a very special floating show on Sunday night. This year, the festival explored the relationship between audio and water, making it only fitting that the closing performance features Oakland electronic wiz Yalls performing onboard the Harbor Queen Ferry in the San Francisco Bay. There are two shows to choose from -- one at sunset and one later at twilight (6pm and 7:30pm, respectively) -- so you've got no excuse to miss what should be a very unique local music experience. http://vimeo.com/98885063 Tickets are only available [...]
Watch Yalls’ new video for “Like a Fool”
Phono del Sol performer Yalls, aka Dan Casey, has let his furry flag fly for the first visuals supporting his United LP with the video for "Like a Fool". Alternating between shots of Casey going all out at what looks like a wedding party and being a little (or maybe a lot) hung over in a furry St. Bernard costume, Casey definitely acts the fool in the video, which was directed by Leveler Media out of Philadelphia. Casey also recently shared a funky standalone Yalls track, "Finally", which you can check out below the video. And did I mention Yalls [...]

Phono del Sol: Yalls’ ascension continues with debut LP ‘United’
(Photo by Nicole Browner) Berkeley bad-boy Dan Casey has come a long way since he formed his first band nearly seven years ago, with Lemons are Louder Than Rocks based out of Philadelphia. The multifaceted musician has been focusing on his main electronic project for the better part of four years, and has just released his first proper full-length LP as Yalls. Maintaining the signature sound that Yalls had developed on his earliest singles (see "Spaceship"), the new United LP (currently available from Gold Robot Records) explores new sonic textures and funky rhythms from the now seasoned performer. https://soundcloud.com/goldrobotrecords/yalls-dc In [...]

Small Black to release new EP, play Rickshaw Stop next week
Small Black is adept at swiveling delicate, electronic streams of tonal ethereality. However, since 2013's EP Limits of Desire, the quartet spent a significant amount of time building their aesthetic toward a more approachable live sound. Thus, the Real People EP was born. The new EP, dropping April 1 via Jagjaguwar, was recorded in part featuring Brooklyn's own Frankie Rose and garnered inspiration from a mix of places, including a felony-imbibing teen from Washington, a song by The Blue Nile, and a curious sample of a resort singer from an album found at a thrift store in Spokane. In addition, the band is [...]
Yalls announces ‘United’ LP on Gold Robot Records
Although Berkeley resident and Jersey transplant Dan Casey has been delivering a steady stream of glitched-out beats and soulfully spacey pop melodies as Yalls since around the time I started blogging in 2010, he is just now preparing the release of his first cohesive, proper full-length album under the moniker. The United LP is out May 6 on limited edition clear vinyl from Gold Robot Records. "Warlords" is the first single from the forthcoming release. The album is a culmination of the unique sound that Yalls has been perfecting over the past several years, offering fresh, sophisticated production [...]
