Wreck & Reference, Bosse-De-Nage, and So Stressed announce show at Oakland’s Golden Bull

California duo Wreck & Reference have only been around since 2011, but the band has already toured as support with an array of acts of an impressive caliber; Deafheaven and Liturgy, just to name a couple, have smacked them onto their bills in recent years. With the release of 2014's drearily stellar Want, Wreck & Reference presented a novel type of metal — one that was rooted in electronic instruments and challenged the classic (and some might argue, tired) tropes of the "conservative" genre. Wreck & Reference to release new album ‘Want’ via SF’s The Flenser

Los Angeles-based Wreck & Reference, an experimental post-metal outfit opening for the likes of Deafheaven this summer, just announced the release of their new album, Want, via San Francisco label The Flenser. Ostensibly a record release show for the new Deafheaven/Boss-de-Nage Split EP — which we wrote about here — the show represents one of the few times we've seen three top metal acts from the Bay Area and Sacramento all gathered in San Francisco at one time. Purchase the EP here via Flenser Records. Based in San Francisco, Deafheaven write black metal songs that [...]
