Stream the new Woods album 'Bend Beyond,' catch them on 10/17/12 at the brand new Preservation Hall

Woods may hail from Brooklyn but they know how to show the west coast considerable love. We're treated to the Woodsist Festival each year in Big Sur - their label-centric, multi-day showcase - and rarely do new tour dates drop without stops in and around the Bay Area. Hell, the second track off their forthcoming studio effort Bend Beyond is called "Cali in a Cup," and lays claim to album's the first official video. Bend Beyond (out September 18th, 2012) is the latest example of Woods' ability to not only produce new music at an astonishing pace, but their desire [...]

Peaking Lights and Woods co-headline Great American Music Hall, 8/3/12

Those who were unable to get tickets for the sold out Woodsist Festival in Big Sur this weekend are in luck. Festival favorites Peaking Lights and Woods are co-headlining a Friday night show at the Great American Music Hall on August 3rd with support from California's Wet Illustrated. Peaking Lights are Indra Dunis and Aaron Coyes, a husband and wife duo who met each other while living in San Francisco. Splitting ways with the psychedelic drone group Rahdunes, the duo moved to Madison, Wisconsin where they formed their current lo-fi psych dub project. The band received significant recognition after releasing [...]

Photos & Recap: 2011 Woodsist Fest in Big Sur, 7/30-7/31/11

Photos by Nicole Browner and Ben Van Houten Last weekend in Big Sur, Woodsist Records and (((folkYEAH!))) teamed up to present the sublimely wonderful 2011 Woodsist Fest. These photos showcase most of the many bands that played at the Fernwood Resort and Henry Miller Library, but they just can't come close to capturing the natural beauty of Big Sur that enveloped the weekend. Musically, the highlights were many. The new Real Estate songs have me really excited about the new record. The Fresh and Onlys and Woods should figure out some way to tour in their "Big Band" configuration. Also, [...]
