Photos & Recap: Regional Bias 2011 with Royal Baths, Little Wings, White Cloud, Sea of Bees

Regional Bias 2011 took place Saturday night, and we couldn't be happier with how it turned out. All four bands ruled, with the only bittersweet element being the knowledge that Royal Baths' electrified high-point-among-high-points set was their last in SF for the foreseeable future. If you came, thank you for your support! If you missed it, catch up with this photo set from Nicole Browner, Anna Gazdowicz, and Todd Wanerman. Thanks again to everyone involved in RB 2011: To our performers, Little Wings, Royal Baths, White Cloud, and Sea of Bees. To our DJs, Peter Arko, Joe Hayes, and Kevin [...]

Counting down to Regional Bias: Why your support is so important!

We're a little over one week away from our annual Regional Bias concert (and our fifth birthday party!), taking place on August 6th at the Verdi Club in San Francisco (7pm, $10-20, tickets on sale now!). As we've said before, even though Regional Bias is a fundraiser, our top priority is making it a really fun, special night for everyone who attends. To that end, we've got four great bands performing -- Little Wings and Royal Baths, White Cloud, and Sea of Bees -- as well as DJs, art, and more. Entertainment value aside, though, there's another reason to buy [...]

White Cloud – “I Know It” / “Sundew”

"I Know It" and "Sundew" make up the first single from White Cloud's most recent studio visit, available to stream on their Bandcamp site. White Cloud recorded a batch of songs with Jason Kick of Maus Haus that they will likely unveil via their Facebook page, until plans are announced for the full-length release. I Know It / Sundew Single by WHITE CLOUD White Cloud has always done their own thing, which is admirable: the band members switch instruments mid-set, and build on one another's qualities for some really stellar post-rock/shoegaze style jams. Together as one, this fresh pair of [...]

Epicsauce.com debuts new show series at Milk

The local, show listings-based Epicsauce.com has announced a new indie show series in the Upper Haight. This series will take place on Thursdays (starting this Thursday, 3/11) at a new venue called Milk, which has taken over the previous Club Boomerang space, located at 1840 Haight St. (across from Amoeba Records). Considering there isn't much in the way of indie rock venues over in that section of town, this should prove to be an interesting (and welcome) experiment. French Miami - "Science Fiction" The first rendition of this series on Thursday will feature French Miami, White Cloud and [...]

White Cloud, Ash Reiter, and TV Mike and the Scarecrowes @ Rickshaw Stop 2/17

Review by Todd Wanerman Photos by: Charlie Homo A modest but dedicated crowd turned up at the Rickshaw Stop Wednesday night to hear a solid set by some very fresh East Bay talent. First up were TV Mike and the Scarecrowes, coming off of several days on the road supporting their CD Spitting in Cursive. Originally out of Bloomington, Indiana but based in Oakland of late, The Scarecrowes traffic in straight-ahead country-tinged pop. They work up a nice head of steam with Toby Oler’s propulsive banjo and guitarist Matt Lundquist’s pedal steel leads adding flavor. The last half the set, [...]
