Weekend and Young Prisms have a new 7″ (and a release show Sunday, 5/30)

It's not rocket science to predict big things coming for Young Prisms and Weekend, two SF bands whose debut Mexican Summer releases received strong acclaim and who both have full lengths forthcoming in the near future. They're also "best buddies," says Transparent, who should know, since they're releasing the bands' new split single. Transparent's generously posted both sides of the record, which are equally great. True to form, Weekend dishes out propulsive melody and energy on its side, while the Prisms deliver another hazy beach pop gem. Weekend - "End Times" Young Prisms - "I Don't Get Much" Celebrate the [...]

Review: The Mantles, Weekend @ Rickshaw 5/4

Photos by Nicole Browner Minutes before the show began, Weekend's drummer, Taylor Valentino, came rushing onto the empty stage, dropping his backpack behind his kit. He meticulously adjusted his drums and cymbals, clad in a white and yellow collared shirt. By the end of the first song, Valentino had his shirt off and his tattoos were glinting under the sweat and lights. It was an apt introduction to the band who have the precision of a collared shirt and the punk of tattoos underneath. With the reverb on high and eerie feedback winding through their songs, Weekend created a thick, [...]

The Bay Bridged Presents: Noise Pop 2010 Happy Hour

[media id=30 width=530 height=300] This year's Noise Pop 2010 Festival was a blast, and on top of the two shows The Bay Bridged presented at the Swedish American this year, we also hosted a Noise Pop Happy Hour at Bender's with Hunx & His Punx, Spencey Dude & the Doodles, and Weekend. Thanks to the event's sponsors, Fernet Branca and Noise Pop, we were able to have some fun with both the bands and attendees, shown in the video above. Again, we'd like to thank everyone that made our Happy Hour such a packed and exciting event.

The Bay Bridged Presents: Noise Pop Happy Hour with Hunx and His Punx, Spencey Dude and the Doodles, Weekend TONIGHT!

Poster Art by Jared Silbert We've been somewhat absent on the live events side of things lately, but it's not for a lack of irons in fires (or pots on stovetops, or, you get the idea). In any event, before our big South by Southwest shindig in March, we're hosting a free happy hour show during Noise Pop. It's a great all-local lineup that's guaranteed to be a ton of fun. The Bay Bridged Presents: A Noise Pop Happy Hour featuring performances by Hunx and His Punx Spencey Dude and the Doodles Weekend Friday, February 26, 2010 Bender's 5-8pm, FREE, [...]
