Washed Out to perform at popscene's 17th anniversary party

Congrats to popscene for celebrating 17 years of consistently well-curated parties, but congrats as well to you, if you've been longing for a chance to see Washed Out and weren't able to check out the First City Festival over the weekend. To my ear, Paracosm is the best thing Ernest Greene has done yet, and he'll be bringing the new album to popscene at the Rickshaw Stop this Thursday night. Tickets for the show go on sale right now, and it seems fair to assume that they won't last long. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8lYbBROpZ6o

Do415 announces Scene Unseen II with Toro y Moi, Washed Out, Young Magic

Just six months after Do415’s first highly successful Scene Unseen party, the Bay Area tastemaker has announced their second event of the series, Scene Unseen II, taking place on March 1st at 1015 Folsom. While the debut Scene Unseen party hosted mainly to the electronic-infused hip hop and rap scenes, Scene Unseen II boasts a electronic pop heavy lineup including Toro Y Moi, Washed Out, and Young Magic. The lineup is exceptionally strong, especially considering Toro Y Moi’s recently released third LP, Anything In Return, as well as his highly buzzed-about cameo on Nosaj Thing’s latest track, “Try”. Scene Unseen [...]

Washed Out’s Yours Truly session includes cameos from Dominant Legs, The Frail

Yourstru.ly Presents: Washed Out "Far Away" from Yours Truly on Vimeo. On the surface, it's about as random of a collaboration as one could come across. Before Washed Out headlined the Great American Music Hall last month, Ernest walked a few blocks over to Hyde Street Studio C where Yours Truly did their thing, with studio engineer Scott McDowell (Birds & Batteries, Sean Hayes, Geographer) capturing the session's audio. The first striking thing about this video is the "soft rock" approach Erwin takes to the otherwise pronounced "chillwave" genre he's been trailblazing. After a seconds of "Far Away," a smooth [...]

Sade Sundays: Variations on a Phantasmagoric Experience

Part 1 By: Joshua Rampage There are a candid few who can welcome an inconvenient and uncomfortable interruption into their lives so readily, but I was getting a little bored with feeling healthy every day anyway. So I did some smooching and before anyone could start snorting, I was sick. Self-diagnosing led me to believe I was suffering from the early stages of Pig Flu. I began to obsessively check my nose for an upward-tilt and my butt for a burgeoning corkscrew tail, but found evidence of neither. Instead, I was forced to accept an annoyance specifically reserved for those [...]
