WAG releases new single “New Power”

Slacker rockers WAG have a new single out to get y'all warmed up for their slacker rocker-studded show at the Hemlock April 2 featuring Couches, Friends W/O Benefits and the very cool, very underrated East Coast post-punk outfit Pile. Titled "New Power", it is a sparse reflection on society's obsession with/over-reliance on technology, poignantly noting that acoustic guitars will remain to provide us with music "once the power goes out." Urban Scandal Records is a DIY punk label run by Stephen Beebout, and it's turning three this week. Based out of the underrated avenues of the Richmond District, the San Francisco label has signed bands such as Owl Paws, Strange Bloom, and No Hands. They're celebrating their hard-earned longevity by throwing a show at Honey Hive Gallery this Thursday. Flying in from Texas to play will be Fairbanks, who recently opened for The Spill Canvas. The rest of the line-up consists of San Francisco locals WAG, Field Medic, and Owl Paws who will be playing an acoustic set. Though the Facebook event specifies to not bring [...]

WAG joyfully cries on their ode to slackerdom, "Melt," one of the best tributes to getting a little high, taking it easy and enjoying the simpler pleasures of life.  Oscillating between sleazy grooves ("Grappling With California") and early '90s grunge-tinted rockers ("Bring Back The Guillotine"), their album No Worries is full of sex, drugs, angst, hazy mornings, boring afternoons and nights you just can't quite remember.  In other words, a great rock n' roll representation of everyday life. WAG will be opening [...]

WAG releases ‘No Worries’ LP

San Francisco's WAG just released their debut LP No Worries, an upbeat album heavily influenced by '90s rock radio. These guys aren't just imitating Nirvana or Green Day, however. Subtle country influences that I'm afraid I will always be a sucker for help separate the band from the pack, while the energetic vocals of Lucas Nerlva manage to take the band even further. Although WAG has barely been around for a year, they've released a pair of EPs to go along with No Worries, which was recorded at Tiny Telephone and produced by Brandon Eggleston. WAG's next confirmed local show [...]
