Taking Stock of September: A mix featuring eighteen of our favorite songs from the blog last month

If you're anything like me, you know how difficult it can be to keep track of all of the new music that's constantly floating around the Internet. Here's our latest month-in-review mix collecting some our favorite new (or new to us) songs recently posted on the website. Gathered in the mix are eighteen (!) new tracks that were posted on TheBayBridged.com in September, with links below to download each of them individually. The Bay Bridged - Best of the Blog September 2011 Mixtape Tracklisting: 1. Thee Oh Sees - "Carrion Crawler" 2. Burnt Ones - "Do the Spell" 3. The [...]

Vetiver – “Can’t You Tell (Bing’s Slim for Summer remix)”

Vetiver - Can't You Tell (Bing's Slim for Summer remix) by subpop Remixes can be pretty hit or miss (or, perhaps worse, inconsequential), but the "Bing's Slim for Summer" reworking of Vetiver's "Can't You Tell" registers in my ears as a definite hit. The languid track comes from the upcoming Can’t You Tell 12" (out 10/11 on Sub Pop), which includes two remixes, an instrumental version of the song, and the version that appeared on The Errant Charm earlier in the year. Download the track for the price of an e-mail address below.

Photos & Recap: Vetiver, tUnE-yArDs, Extra Classic at the Rickshaw Stop, 8/12/11

tUnE-yArDs' culmination of success has been amazing to witness. Merrill Garbus has moved her tribal indie pop act to new levels, as evidenced by Pitchfork-curated church showcases at SxSW to a sold-out show at the Great American to a recent late-night television debut. tUnE-yArDs were announced at the last minute as a "special guest" during Vetiver's Outside Lands night show at the Rickshaw Stop, and suddenly, the dynamic of the show shifted entirely. While a significant crowd remained for the duration of the evening (the musicians of Vetiver, after all, have a certain amount of star power on their own), an [...]

Vetiver – ‘The Errant Charm’ out now

Vetiver - "Wonder Why" Vetiver - "Can't You Tell" Vetiver's latest album, The Errant Charm, is out this week on Sub Pop. It's another gorgeous album from bandleader Andy Cabic, full of the nuanced folk-rock he does so well. According to the label, the streets of San Francisco played an important role in the crafting of The Errant Charm: "As he worked on material for the new record Cabic spent hours wandering the streets around San Francisco’s Richmond District, listening to rough mixes, tinkering with lyrics and arrangements." Take a listen to two songs from the album above, including uptempo [...]

New Vetiver album out via Sub Pop on 6/14/11 – ‘The Errant Charm’

As Pitchfork reported yesterday, Vetiver's new album will be called The Errant Charm and is scheduled for release on June 14th via Sub Pop. Check out "Can't You Tell," for streaming now (or download via email): "Can't You Tell" is classic Vetiver - warm and easygoing folk, woven loosely together with plenty of indie pop hooks. There don't appear to be any local Vetiver shows scheduled in the known future, but don't be surprised if a full Errant Charm tour is announced sooner rather than later.
