Castle Face’s Live in SF series continues with Ty Segall Band

Castle Face is back with the fourth fifth installment of the label's Live in San Francisco series, featuring Ty Segall Band’s February 2014 performance at Rickshaw Stop. Just like when his other band Fuzz dropped the first Live in SF album, Segall is featured on the cover in black-and-white, but this time we don't see the frontman's mug. No, the photo is a closeup of his guitar shredding ... taken while he is crowd-surfing. This seemingly innocuous album cover is instead the perfect entree into what was a raucous evening of the usual Segall fare: fuzzed out garage rock bliss [...]

Watch Ty Segall play "You Make The Sun Fry" in a closet

There are times when purpose is overrated. What's the point in filming Ty Segall's band playing their scorching garage rock in a tiny, closet-like space? I have no idea, but it sounds great. The video was recorded in the basement of the Drag City label offices and is part of a new video series called Drag City Limits. Check it out. With Slaughterhouse out June 26 (and streamable on Spin), Ty Segall is on tour in July (but not on the West Coast). Full dates below. Sun. July 15 - Chicago, IL @ Pitchfork Music Festival (3:20, Red Stage) Mon. [...]

New from Ty Segall Band – "I Bought My Eyes"

Ty Segall Band - "I Bought My Eyes" Crank up yr. stereos, kids -- Ty Segall's back. "I Bought My Eyes" is a fast-paced guitar riot, with blaring twin riffs and a crashing percussive backbone. Slaughterhouse will be first album Segall has recorded with his touring band -- Mikal Cronin, Charlie Moothart, and Emily Rose Epstein. The addition is a welcome one -- Segall's solo work has always been exceptional, but this group recording channels some of the raw, [...]

Ty Segall Band releases 'Slaughterhouse' June 26 on In The Red

As if Ty Segall hasn't been tremendously busy working on a collaborative album with White Fence and a completely solo album, here comes a third one for 2012: the debut album from the Ty Segall Band. Slaughterhouse will drop June 26 on In The Red; the 11-song album comes in the fun, alternate form of a double 10-inch. The Ty Segall Band went into The Hangar Studios in Sacramento for this first record, which has been described as more of a collaborative effort amongst bandmates Mikal Cronin, Charlie Moothart, and Emily Rose Epstein, likely more in line with their live [...]
