Interview: Garage-pop supergroup Tiaras ready for Phono Del Sol

Tiaras will be playing the Phono del Sol Music & Food Festival, July 11th at Potrero del Sol Park in San Francisco. Get your tickets before it’s too late! “It’s very incestuous.” Tiaras is talking about how many of their band members will be jumping around and playing in other bands at upcoming festival Deathstock, but it could easily apply to the community of Bay Area slop-pop outfits brewing and consorting together recently. You’ll find them at venues like El Rio or word-of-mouth backyard shows, and you’ll recognize them by the names of Part/Human, Stalls, and The Strange Land. Tiaras [...]

Death Records to hold inaugural DEATHSTOCK, a three-day festival in Guerneville this June

If the name didn't already hint at it, DEATHSTOCK isn't a festival for the weak-hearted. To celebrate the first year anniversary of San Francisco-based Death Records' existence, DEATHSTOCK brings together more than 25 bands (on three stages) north of San Francisco in Guerneville, CA, from June 26 to June 28. Featuring a lineup of scuzzy punk acts like Terry Malts and CCR Headcleaner, lo-fi rockers like The Mantles and more dreamier, pop numbers like Death Records' own Tiaras, the festival will play host to a slew of eclectic local acts over a three-day music binge. And although it's in its first year, it's already a [...]

Deathstock Fest coming to Guerneville in June

There was Woodstock ’69, Woodstock ’94 and ’99 (yikes), and now, on a completely new note, there’s Deathstock. SF label Death Records is celebrating their one year anniversary how? With a full blown two-day music festival campout in the woods - duh! The lineup is already partially announced, including many Death Records roster artists like Smiles, Air Surgeon, Tiaras, Teenage Chain, The Strange Land, and Cole Lodge, making it a truly local affair. Friends of the label like Tomorrows Tulips, Danny James, CCR Headcleaner, Part/Human, and label head Brian Wakefield’s own band Emotional are the other additions to the bill [...]

Tiaras release new video for “Anyone & Everyone”

Standing on the edge of releasing their first LP, Tiaras are a motley crew of San Francisco musicians, with members from other noteworthy local bands (most now defunct). Ryan Grubbs and Kyle Hoover were in Ganglians, Adam Finken was in Burnt Ones and Blasted Canyons and Antonio Gualco plays in FNU Ronnies and Fine Steps. Even though this is Tiaras' first video release, these are no new kids on the block. They've been playing live as Tiaras for nearly two years, and are about to release their debut LP via Sacramento label Mount Saint Mountain. With their garage-leaning power pop, [...]

Professional Fans Showcase 006: LENZ, Pure Bliss, Tears Club, Tiaras

This Sunday, Professional Fans will bring the party to Thee Parkside. Pure Bliss, Tears Club, and TIARAS will support headlining band LENZ. Oakland's LENZ was formed in 2010 by Andy Jordan, Ray Seraphin, and Kephera Moon. Once the band established its "ice-pop" sound drawn from krautrock, post-punk, and pop, LENZ released its first 7-inch with SS Records' Scott Soriano in 2011. Drummer Brett Eastman joined the band in 2012, and the quartet released four new tracks as a 12-inch EP on Tic Tac Totally. Moon has since left the band, and Matt Bulimore was brought on as the second guitarist. [...]
