Thee Oh Sees now called Oh Sees, still amazing and headlining Phono del Sol
The recent announcement that Phono del Sol 2017 headliner Thee Oh Sees will now be known as Oh Sees likely generated, at most, acknowledging nods from most music fans, unless, of course, you're an Oh Sees super fan (like us), or happen to have just printed several thousand programs for an upcoming festival using the band's old name (like us). But while dropping "Thee" might not be a big deal, the band's new name offers another demarcating point to help navigate a remarkable two-decade run that has seen John Dwyer and bandmates release eighteen LPs and about a bazillion singles, [...]

Thee Oh Sees close out November with two shows at The Chapel
In the spirit of giving thanks and being around friends and family, San Francisco favorite son Jon Dwyer will bring Thee Oh Sees to The Chapel for two sold out shows, November 29 and 30. The band has been incredibly restless between lineup changes and recording two albums (in one session) for 2016. In August the band released their seventeenth studio album (and first to feature the dual drumming dynamic of Ryan Mountinho and Dan Rincon) titled A Weird Exits. A Weird Exits is an eight-track LP that received immense praise across critical channels for strong variety and a level quality consistency [...]
Mixtape: The Musical World of Kelley Stoltz
This post first ran on KQED.org. http://media.libsyn.com/media/thebaybridged/Kelley_Stoltz_Mixtape.mp3 Download: Mixtape: The Musical World of Kelley Stoltz (Podcast #389) If one were only to consider his consistently strong solo albums, San Francisco musician Kelley Stoltz would rightly be labeled an impressive talent. Over the past decade and a half, he's released seven LPs of finely-tuned rock-pop for labels that include Castle Face, Third Man, and Sub Pop. Influenced by classic artists like The Kinks and The Beach Boys, Stoltz conveys a unique and ever-evolving interest in pop mixed with elements of psychedelia and garage rock. Even more impressively, his solo albums have [...]

Photos: Thee Oh Sees at the Great American Music Hall
Thee Oh Sees (photo: Brittany O'Brien) While there may have been some venue switch-up during their 3 nights in the city, that didn't stop our very own Thee Oh Sees from closing out their Bay Area residency to a packed house at the Great American Music Hall Wednesday night, August 26, 2015. Brittany O'Brien was there to take these photos of the exuberant band as they conquered the stage in their home town.
Tonight’s Thee Oh Sees show at Leo’s has been cancelled; band now playing Ghost Town
Thee Oh Sees were originally scheduled to play Leo's Music Club tonight as a part of a set of Bay Area shows kicking off their latest US tour (they played Great American Music Hall yesterday and will be playing there again tomorrow night). However, we just got word that the show has been (rather abruptly) cancelled. Instead, according to the band's web site, they'll be playing at the Ghost Town Gallery. We don't know much regarding the Leo's situation - only that something happened at the club over the weekend. In addition to the cancellation of Thee Oh Sees' show, [...]
Ticket Giveaway: Thee Oh Sees at Great American Music Hall next week
Thee Oh Sees at Phono del Sol (photo: Paige K. Parsons) Our own local punk rock heroes Thee Oh Sees are coming home next week! While they'll be making a few appearances around the Bay, it's their two-night residency at the beautiful and classic Great American Music Hall that especially has my attention. Currently on tour in support of their latest album (9th by my count, but in reality it's a lot higher than that with the many name-changes and side-projects), Mutilator Defeated At Last, the band has been all over the country with their new touring lineup featuring core member John Dwyer [...]
