Tonight in SOMA, the newly formed East Bay band Dreams celebrates their first single with a release party at Beatbox (11th Street & Folsom - RSVP). Broken Light Parade by The Moanin Dove The Moanin Dove, an SF trio comprised of James Riotto (who is also an engineer at Tiny Telephone), Josh Korr, and Rob Shelton, celebrates the release of the new Broken Light Parade EP tomorrow night, July 7th, at Bottom of the Hill (9pm, $7, 21+), with Beep and Audio Out Send. I arrived last Friday night in the cavernous CELLspace during a set by Linda Perry. Known both for her work with 4 Non Blondes and as a producer/songwriter for some major pop performers, she sat alone at the piano singing with a beautiful, raw voice and throwing salty jokes at the audience. I recommend checking out her neat side project of covers using her iPhone. The Goldenhearts followed up, celebrating the release of their new album Is There Love on Mars?. You may not, however be aware of Riotto's own band, The Moanin Dove. The Moanin Dove have been in the studio recently, working on a new EP, and they'll headline at Bottom of the Hill on Thursday, June 17th (9pm, $10, 21+). They'll be supported by Geographer and Leopold and His Fiction, with a DJ set by John Vanderslice.
