Street Joy headlines a night of indie pop at The Milk Bar
Indie pop will dominate the Milk Bar tomorrow night, with a headlining set by Street Joy out of Los Angeles. "Moon", a new track from Street Joy that will appear on their debut LP to be released this summer, just premiered on Billboard. Joining Street Joy will be a handful of locals, starting with Summer Peaks, whose recent album I wrote about earlier this year. After additional listens of their most recent album, Saturday, I feel like I didn't gush enough about these kids. The album isn't quite as polished as it could be, but the foundation is there for [...]
The Midnight Snackers release ‘Foul Weather Friends’ LP
Following up two previous EPs, garage rock band The Midnight Snackers have come out with their first full-length release, Foul Weather Friends. The album is fun, melodic, and a nice break-away from the traditionally niche garage/psych rock. While the band uses elements from those genres, they take the product into several absolutely different territories. There are psychedelic-sounding synths, ska-sounding horn sections, all capped with a rock n' roll sound. Foul Weather Friends by The Midnight Snackers "Communication," the first track off of the record, starts off with a distorted, choppy bass riff, containing an Iggy Pop reminiscent sound, while "GFGF" delivers hard [...]
The Midnight Snackers release 'Sudden Death' EP recorded in 72 hours

Their mission was to avoid the post-editing process and come out with something organic and unadulterated. In a press release for the new record, the band's singer Dylan Haas describes what his thoughts were going into recording: Really, I just wanted to see what [...]

The Midnight Snackers – “Now I am Become Party”
Introducing themselves to the experimental lo-fi Bay Area scene (sharing space with the likes of Thee Oh Sees), the Midnight Snackers have emerged with their debut self-titled EP. "Now I am Become Party" is the EP's single - a sprawling, energetic affair with plenty of bluesy hooks and psychedelic nostalgia. The self-titled EP is out now via Bandcamp.
