Premiere: The Dry Spells release first new music in six years, “Heliotrope”

Hello The Dry Spells, it's nice to meet you again! Well, they're back with an equally haunting new song called "Heliotrope," and it's sending shivers down our spine. The band recorded the song a few years ago with Magic Trick's Tim Cohen, and it's the b-side to a split single with The She's released today on Empty Cellar Records. It starts out with some wry minor guitar chords and slowly [...]

The Dry Spells release debut: Too Soon For Flowers

The Dry Spells, with their layered electric and acoustic instrumentation, are one of the Bay Area's many contributions to the exploding psych-folk scene.  Tracks like "Batwood" begin with plenty of rhythm and structure and devolve into a flurry of guitar riffs and violin.   Other songs feature solid backbone and somber tambourine. Can tambourine be somber? This one is - under searing guitar melodies.  The Dry Spells - "Lost Daughter" As with all self-respecting indie/folk/psych/rock/acoustic/electric/hybrid outfits, The Dry Spells feature one member with a biblical name, one beard and an affinity for all things analog. The band's debut album [...]

After graduating, the band moved to San Francisco and reconnected with Bard alumnus Ezra Feinberg, joining his band Citay. The Dry Spells - "Lost Daughter" Mixing layered acoustic folk and droney [...]
