The Dodos release the sweetly melodic “The Atlantic”
Folk rock duo the Dodos just released another one-off single, “The Atlantic.” The track starts with sweetly melodic folksy guitar picking with that signature Dodos percussive backbone, which quickly grows with Logan Kroeber’s drums that pound like a heartbeat alongside glowing synth infusions that altogether gives this song a different feel than some of their other tunes. This comes after March’s other single, “The Surface,” which has more of those folk-pop feels. The Dodos just wrapped up their East Coast tour this month and we’re ready for them to return to San Francisco stages.

The Dodos release new single, kick off national tour at the Independent
San Francisco psych rockers the Dodos, a collaboration between guitarist Meric Long and percussionist Logan Kroeber, recently announced their seventh studio release, Certainty Waves. The album is due out October 12 via Polyvinyl Records. The album's title reflects the idea that what once seemed so certain will likely prove not to be in the future. That any once-perceived certainty was only a wave passing by. “Certainty Waves is our midlife crisis record,” says Long. “Who we thought we were, how mistaken we were, how an interference in the trajectory can flip your understanding of what came before.” Certainty Waves finds [...]

Plenty of bands are exhausted -- both physically and creatively -- by the time the finish making a new record. Not so with The Dodos, however. Shortly after finishing Carrier, the local duo quickly returned to Tiny Telephone to begin capturing songs for their next album. That record, Individ, sees release on January 27 on Polyvinyl Records. Meric Long explained the inspiration behind the group's decision to keep recording: "There were things I didn't want to forget, sounds that we had just scratched the surface of making that record that I wanted to capitalize on. Songs came together easily, there [...]
