Two Piece Fest West hits the East Bay this weekend

Not to offend all my bassist friends out there, but the Two Piece Fest West taking place this weekend begs the question: who needs 'em? Apparently not this collection of duos. Including numerous Bay Area acts along with out-of-towners ranging from Portland to Philadelphia, the lineup is full of aggressive, hard-hitting music that makes up for the lack of low-end with pulverizing beats, scathing riffs and pure attitude. Not to mention a surprising amount of diversity. The Body, Sandworm play two Bay Area shows supporting split LP

Halloween comes early this year for fans of underground metal, with The Body and Sandworm playing a pair of shows together here in the Bay Area. The two Providence-based acts are touring together in support of an upcoming split LP, and they play The Night Light in Oakland tonight, followed by a performance at El Rio on Wednesday. The Body recently collaborated with The Haxan Cloak on I Shall Die Here, introducing new elements to the duo's macabre post-metal musings.
