Tyondai Braxton (ex-Battles) leads Saturday’s Switchboard Music Festival
The 2016 Switchboard Music Festival is the ninth annual installment of the day-long, genre-mixing fest, which showcases new works from a variety of local and out-of-town performers. This year's Switchboard takes place this Saturday at the Brava Theater, and it's headlined by Tyondai Braxton, previously of Battles. Braxton will be performing HIVE, described by his record label as "a live multimedia work that was part architectural installation and part ensemble performance with five musicians sitting cross-legged atop their own space-age oval pods. The Switchboard Music Festival will celebrate its fifth anniversary on April 1st with eight hours of non-stop music from Bay Area artists who are pushing the boundaries in their respective genres. Birds & Batteries - "Strange Kind of Mirror" It's great to see annual happenings in San Francisco music, so we are pleased to share information about Switchboard Music Festival's fourth occurrence this Sunday, April 3 at the Brava Theater (24th & York, 2-10pm). Celebrating local musicians and their diverse creations, this year's lineup is topped off with Birds & Batteries, but enlists a unique variety of acts, from jazz quartets and experimental "scratch guitar," to the traditional big band ensemble.
