Video Premiere: Swiftumz, “Game Six”

Swiftumz released a 7" single "Game Six" on Fruits and Flowers late last year, and today we're pleased to share the accompanying visuals for "Game Six," shot and directed by Anthony Marchitiello. The mini-film was shot at Marchitiello's home in Monte Rio and stars his children, who add an innocent and almost uplifting element to songwriter Christopher McVicker's heartbreaking, grief-filled song. It's still sad as hell, but there's light at the end of the tunnel. Marchitiello, who co-directed Turn It Around: The Story of East Bay Punk has collaborated with Swiftumz previously, most recently on the video for the "Game [...]

Swiftumz dropping Everybody Loves Chris later this month on Melters

Bay Area rock outfit Swiftumz will release its new LP Everybody Loves Chris on May 18 via SF label Melters, and if the first two singles are any indication, it's likely to be the band's best work yet. Both "Not Losing Sleep" and "Creepy Eyed Girls" are beautiful stoner pop tunes full of jangly guitars and frontman Chris McVickers' seemingly effortless and damn-near soothing vocals. Below, listen to both tracks and get details on Swiftumz' record release party on May 28 at the Knockout. Swiftumz, Flesh World, Dirty Ghosts, Kiss Cam, DJ Gourmet The Knockout May 28, 2015 9pm, $7 [...]

Interview & TBB Premiere: Swiftumz releases new 'Love Ya 4EVA' 7"

Bay Area native Swiftumz has a brand new 7” out via Rocinante Records! The record, including a more upbeat, rocked out re-recording of “Love Ya 4EVA,” and a brand new song, “Klik Klak,” was recorded locally at Different Fur Studios. The tracks embody pop music at its best - simple, groove-able, and downright good. The band’s frontman, Christopher McVicker, has been making music as Swiftumz for a little while now, gaining buzz and traction within and beyond the Bay Area, but you won’t find his recordings on SoundCloud or Bandcamp. Despite the lack of online presence and his super humble [...]

The Mallard, Shannon and the Clams, Blasted Canyons host fundraiser for Ursula Rodriguez on 2/20/13

Long-time San Francisco resident Ursula Rodriguez (whom you may know from such hits as a being a bartender at Rite Spot, an Amoeba employee, a Bottom of the Hill employee or a KUSF DJ) had a pretty shitty 2012. Not long after her house of 15 years burned down, her car, containing all the stuff she could salvage from her home, was broken into and her possessions stolen. Good thing she’s got such strong ties to the local music community. On February 20th, Brick and Mortar will host a fundraiser to help cover the cost of finding a new home, [...]

Swiftumz releasing 'Don't Trip' cassette on Burger Records today, streaming album track "4EVA"

Swiftumz – the lo-fi pop project from Chris McVickers, an artist we previously dubbed "San Francisco’s loveable and cuddly brat" – is releasing its LP Don't Trip for the first time ever on tape today, courtesy of the Fullerton's Burger Records, and the label is streaming album cut "4EVA" on SoundCloud now. Since the record's initial release in September 2011, "Don't Trip" has only been available digitally or on vinyl from Portland label Holy Mountain Records, but McVicker is apparently joining the masses now flocking to the '80s throwback world of cassettes (my personal favorite back in the day was [...]
