Visit their web site at goldstar.com/thebaybridged The post first ran on KQED.org. A record label may not be a necessity for a musician in 2016, considering the remarkable ease with which anyone can record an album and put it out into the world, and its benefits may not be obvious to some, given the precarious state of the music industry as a whole. Still, amidst the sea of countless new releases every week, there's undeniable value [...]

Summer Peaks release ‘Color in the Shade’ and help you float back down to earth

On June 8, 2016, Summer Peaks released their new record Color in the Shade via Wave Dweller. It felt like it had been a long time waiting, but when you finally hit play, you begin floating away with the timeless melodies. When you hit that play button, you remember why you waited in the first place, and nothing really matters in the time it takes you to listen to all 12 songs. It's no secret that every single member of the band is unbelievably talented, from Zachary Elsasser to Melina Duterte to Daniel Mandrychenko and Dylan Allard, and if you get the [...]

Summer Peaks releases new single “Entwined,” announces tour dates

Summer Peaks has  released a new slow jam single on San Francisco-based indie label Wave Dweller. Despite its chill-out groove and lounge-cool keys, "Entwined" digs into darker lyrical territory, detailing a disintegrating relationship as the drumbeat bounces on. Just wait for the swooning, spine-tingling chorus, one that is part bittersweet nostalgia (but isn't all nostalgia bittersweet?), part hazy lament. It's a chorus that hurts about as good as the first time The Smiths' "Please, Please, Please Let Me Get What I Want" played on a mixtape an old high school girlfriend made for you before running off with a beefy [...]

Groups like Geographer and Painted Palms are just some of the latest in a long line of acclaimed local indie pop bands to break out nationally, joining Rogue Wave, The Dodos, Papercuts, Film School, The Aislers Set and many, many more. Lest one be concerned for the future of local indie pop, this mixtape shows that [...]

Listen to this ‘Night of the Living Shreds’ mixtape before Friday’s Bay Bridged Halloween show

Flier by Karli A. Helm As the list of Halloween weekend events grows bigger and bigger, so does our excitement about our very own Halloween show that we're putting on with Wave Dweller! Part covers show, part spooky vibes, part local band appreciation night, "Night of the Living Shreds" is guaranteed to be a concert to remember. To ring in Halloween week, we asked Wave Dweller and the bands on the bill to pick their favorite songs from this holiday season. Here's what they chose... Wave Dweller: "Wolf at the Door" - Radiohead This song has a real eerie sway about it. [...]

Wave Dweller & The Bay Bridged present ‘Night of the Living Shreds’

October is for ghouls and ghosts — especially in a place as weird as the San Francisco Bay Area. But in the midst of all that, there's a plethora of themed Halloween shows and haunted parties. We're happy to announce The Bay Bridged will be adding to this extensive calendar of awesome events by partnering with Wave Dweller — a local promotion company and record label — to bring you "Night of the Living Shreds" on Fri, Oct 30 featuring O, French Cassettes, Everyone is Dirty and Summer Peaks. In addition to the lineup of great local bands, each group playing the night will [...]

Wave Dweller rings in August at Rickshaw Stop (+ a new Summer Peaks track)

We're in the heap of August, so Bay Area event curators Wave Dweller will be bringing some great music to Rickshaw Stop this week. The night will feature some classic garage rock n' roll coming from headliners, Hot Flash Heat Wave, the Bay Area sweethearts who bring a mix of surf rock to their sound and have been taking the local music scene by storm. Kera and the Lesbians, the folk rock group from Los Angeles who have made waves with their track "Gypsy Song", an addicting anthem-like track that will keep you moving to the beat, will also be playing before [...]

Summer Peaks share acoustic EP ‘Adorn the Night’

Brentwood pop darlings Summer Peaks just dropped the follow-up to one of my favorite releases of 2014 with the release of their acoustic EP Adorn the Night. It's just four songs, but it should hold you over until they release their next full-length, which they'll be recording in September for a January 2016 release. Like their debut, Saturday, Summer Peaks evoked a wide variety of moods on the brief Adorn the Night, with each member adding distinct vocals and songwriting styles. Summer Peaks perform tomorrow night at The Milk Bar, followed by an August tour with Kera and the Lesbians [...]

Best of 2014: What the other lists missed from Russell Jelinek

It's officially 2015, and all the 2014 lists are in. I honestly enjoy them, but how many times do you need to read about Run the Jewels and War on Drugs? We get it, they're good. Locally, everyone loved Cocktails, Sun Kil Moon, and tUnE-YaRdS, but what did just about every list miss? THE ANSWER IS BELOW: Odawas - Reflection of a Pink Laser: A triumphant comeback for the Indiana natives. The expansive instrumentals on the 19-minute "What If Our World is Their Heaven" leading into "Flow My Tears" makes for the best moment on any album I've heard for [...]
