Stalls releases new video for “Cola”
The hazy post punk landscape that Stalls laid out in January on their S/T cassette EP reeled us in deep. Stalls has played no shortage of shows since then, and has returned to computer screens with their new video for "Cola." The video was created by Weiss’s old high school buddies James Siewert and Auden Lincoln Vogel, who drew up the idea for the video when Weiss sent them lyrics for "Cola." Between Sam Weiss’s striking vocals and Nick Clark’s sharp drumming, the record proved Stalls to be one of the best new bands out of Oakland. Catch them live [...]

Noise Pop 2015: The Bay Bridged Happy Hour with Couches, Stalls, and Never Young
You know it's gonna be a good show when the sound guy tells you to take it down a notch three minutes into your set. Yeah, that's how loud Never Young was to open The Bay Bridged-hosted Noise Pop Happy Hour event at Benders Friday night. Things didn't get any more mellow after the band's set of blistering noise rock either, nor did I wish it to. I mean, something had to take my mind off the passing of Leonard Nimoy, and what better way to cope with superficial pop culture icon mourning than an evening full of garbled vocals, [...]

Premiere: Stream Stalls’ self-titled debut EP
As soon as we heard the smooth yet snarly voice of Stalls' Sam Weiss, we were immediately hooked. Today, we're excited to share the first listen of Stalls' self titled debut cassette, which is out tomorrow on Oakland's Vacant Stare Records. The five tracks were recorded entirely by Weiss and drummer Nick Clark at Oakland's Itinerant Home Recordings, and provide the perfect post punk haze to complement Weiss' badass vocals. Since forming a live band late last year, Stalls has played a host of shows around the Bay and looks primed for a busy 2015. Listen to the album below, [...]
Get to Know: Stalls
If 2014 has taught us anything, it's that there's a lot of damn good rock and roll coming out of Oakland, and new band Stalls is no exception. Stalls is the creation of Sam Weiss, who has been a member of Pure Bliss, Violent Change, Mall Walk, and many more, and is joined by Ray Seraphin (Talkies, Violent Change) and Nick Clark (Mall Walk) to round out the group. So far, Stalls has recorded a couple tracks that should give you a pretty good feel for their sound. Both songs are anchored by strong, repeating bass lines that give Weiss' [...]
