Spencey Dude & the Doodles launch debut LP, 'Night Problems'

Night Problems by Spencey Dude & the Doodles For what feels like years, we've been awaiting the debut LP from SF's Spencey Dude & the Doodles, and Night Problems is well worth the delay. The band isn't as prolific as some of its peers, but there's no shortage of killer hooks on the Greg Ashley-recorded album, which is available digitally now and on vinyl in May. Stream it in full above.

Review & Photos: Spencey Dude and the Doodles, King Tuff and Times New Viking @ Rickshaw Stop, 6/14/11

Don't know how I missed SF's Spencey Dude and the Doodles this long. They've been doing their thing since 2005 at least, and even recorded with my hero, Greg Ashley (playing Sunday at Knockout, by the way). Maybe it's the name. They need a new name. Still it's my own fucking fault for missing out on this shit. Despite some problems with the mic early on, the band just plain rocked. The guitarist and drummer handled most of the vocals, but the bass player simply kicked ass. They have great song titles and if they'd just line up some more [...]

Bart Davenport, Dreamdate, Sean Hayes and more playing fundraiser 3/16/11 for Muffler Men documentary

Clean White Lines, a local video and film company, is attempting the unexpected: to make a documentary about Muffler Men, those big fiberglass sculptures used to promote roadside businesses. In order to create this film, the company needs an RV, and is currently raising funds to help purchase a used model. Bart Davenport, Dreamdate (acoustic), Anna and Spencer of Spencey Dude and the Doodles, and Sean Hayes have all signed on to help the cause by playing a show entitled "Making Green" at the Hemlock on Wednesday, March 16th (9:00 pm). $10 gets you in the door, where you'll hear [...]

The Dodos pack the Rickshaw for pre-OSL show

Photos by: Jamie Piazza The Dodos returned to play the Rickshaw Stop last Wednesday, after an excruciatingly long time. Their homecoming show was not something to be missed, and it felt as if everyone and their mother came out to see what our boys have been up to since recording their latest album Time to Die. Opening up the show was the band Spency Dude and the Doodles, who though a little under the radar more than made up for their anonymity with a great performance. The three-piece out of San Francisco thoroughly impressed with their quirky and undeniably catchy [...]
