Sonya Cotton writes EP in memory of her mother, launches Kickstarter campaign

Sonya Cotton wrote a six-song EP in memory of her mother, who passed away a year and a half ago after being diagnosed with cancer. To support the recording process, Sonya has launched a Kickstarter campaign for an album that, in her words, "is for all of us." Sonya Cotton releases ‘Red River’ Friday at Noe Valley Ministry

Friday marks the release of local folk singer-songwriter Sonya Cotton's enchanting new full length, Red River. The album was recorded in Hyde Street Studios and features Cotton's local backing ensemble: Anna Perlmutter (vocals, violin) Nick Stargu (classical guitar,) Gabe Dominguez (vocals, flute,) and Sean Jones (bass guitar). Of the sixteen guest musicians that contribute to Cotton's lush soundscape are some big names, such as Ezra Lipp (Sean Hayes, Thao Nguyen).
