Sleepy Sun release dreamy music video, “Seaquest”
Sleepy Sun (photo: Amy Harrity) Local rock band Sleepy Sun have released a video for their single "Seaquest." The dream-like video jumps between the band performing, sailing, and swimming, creating a very trippy and smooth vibe. The single is off of their soon-to-be-released fifth album entitled Private Tales, which is out June 9 through Dine Alone Records. This the second single from this album. After playing together for 10 years, Sleepy Sun blend effortlessly for a undeniably polished and sleek sound. Guitarist for the band Matt Holliman said in a press release that "As with most of our videos, we [...]

Win tickets: Sleepy Sun added to Charles Bradley show at the Regency
Psychedelic rockers Sleepy Sun recently announced that they will be joining Charles Bradley & His Extraordinaires this Thursday night at the Regency. Fresh off a stint in Austin last weekend, the band will bring their particular brand of towering riffs, cascading choruses and atmospheric soundscapes to a bill that features a crooning soul-revivalist in the vein of James Brown. Hey, why not? It's San Francisco, anything goes here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=RiiE1hut-ig Sleepy Sun is currently supporting their latest LP, Maui Tears, released this year, and, as of this writing, this is the last show date scheduled until late August. If you haven't [...]

In addition to performers on [...]
Ticket Giveaway: Sleepy Sun @ The Chapel
Listen up, Sleepy Sun fans. We’ve got a ticket giveaway for you. Fresh off the release of January’s Maui Tears, some of San Francisco’s trippiest noisemakers are playing a hometown show at The Chapel on Thursday before continuing on with their (seemingly ongoing) tour. Released in January to critical acclaim, Maui Tears is a rambling, roaming feat of psych, a genre that’s been declared dead a million times over in this town. After Thursday, the band will mosey up and down the West coast, then sprint over to Europe next month. Psych brethren Mystic Braves and Suzanne Vallie support. To [...]
Interview: Bret Constantino of Sleepy Sun talks analog recording and live energy
While we've known the San Francisco-based band under its chosen moniker since 2007, Sleepy Sun was initially formed as Mania in 2005, making 2014 the eve of its decade-long existence. Aside from one major lineup change with the departure of co-lead vocalist Rachel Fannan, its core group of founders, who met as students at UC Santa Cruz, has remained firm over the years as it mastered a balance of dark, psychedelic meanderings and softer, melodic moments. Capturing a sonic amalgam of gritty rock and roll and psych-tinged power pop, Sleepy Sun's fourth studio album, Maui Tears, drops today via Dine Alone Records, and vocalist Bret [...]

http://media.libsyn.com/media/thebaybridged/Beer_Mix_2013.mp3 Download: Mixtape: Bay Area Jams to Accompany Beer Drinking (Podcast #320) As we've long said, we're love great beer almost as much as we love great music. Combine the two, and you've got a recipe for a good time. This mixtape is something of a successor to our 2011 rock and beer pairing, collecting a whole mess of local rock and roll bands that sound great when paired with a tasty pint. The mix features music from 20 Bay Area bands, including garage nuggets from Shannon and the Clams and Warm Soda, hard rock jams courtesy of FUZZ and [...]
Song Premiere: Sleepy Sun – "The Lane"
We're big fans of Sleepy Sun here at the Bay Bridged - this is not news. In fact, we like them so much that we booked them to perform at the very first Bay Brewed, back in 2011. Earlier this week, we mentioned that Sleepy Sun very recently released a new self-titled 7", out now via Dine Alone Records, featuring A-side "11:32." Today, we're proud to premiere the 7" B-side, a powerful, driving tune called "The Lane." Check it out here and now: Matt Holliman from Sleepy Sun describes "The Lane" as follows: The Lane was conceived several years ago [...]
