Chasms shares new video for "Not in this Dimension”
San Francisco duo Chasms (Jess Labrador and Sky Madden) have shared the official music video for “Not in this Dimension”, another highlight from their Riser EP (following the title track), which was released last month on cassette via Dream Recordings. The video is directed by San Francisco visual artist and musician Marc Manning, formerly of Tied to the Branches. Manning says his work “is based on the idea that art and music are divinatory tools when approached with an empty mind." The black-and-white video carries an otherworldly tone that echoes the haunting imagery of the song, with shadowy shots of [...]

Professional Fans are at it again with another Grade A California showcase featuring Colleen Green, SISU, and Burnt Palms at Cafe Du Nord on Monday, July 22. Hardly Art sweetheart Colleen Green (West LA) released her debut LP with the label in March. Following the Ramones and Descendents-inspired themes of her early releases Cujo and Milo Goes To Compton, her new album Sock It To Me soaks up the sunny sounds of sad girl stoner pop and rings them out with a sense of gloomy lo-fi flair. Watch the video for "Taxi Driver" below, and catch Colleen wearing her signature [...]

Review & Photos: DIIV, Wax Idols, SISU, LENZ at Brick & Mortar Music Hall, 3/2/13 (Noise Pop 2013)
There was a lot to choose from among Saturday's Noise Pop 2013 festivities. So thank the gods of psych-pop that I ended up in front of DIIV's second consecutive sold -out show at Brick & Mortar. I've been hooked on DIIV's Oshin for the past few weeks, so I had high hopes for the heavily-anticipated Noise Pop '13 act - but I was not expecting to be so thoroughly winded by their gorgeous dreamy gloom and varied paradox of a live show. I'm not sure how they're able to mix floaty shoegaze and echoey grunge so eloquently, but I'm sure [...]
