The Lovemakers to bring back their beloved electro-pop at Alternative Cure cancer benefit
We're all in agreement that live music is the cure for for many ailments, right? Alternative Cure, a local non-profit, is taking this mantra to heart as they focus on their mission: to gift cancer patients and their families with memory-making concert experiences and raise funds for cancer research. Next week, they're putting on a benefit show featuring recently reunited Oakland electro-poppers The Lovemakers, local alt-rock stalwarts Scissors for Lefty, and Popscene/LIVE105 DJ Aaron Axelsen. The Chapel’s wedding bells are ringing for two local “Love, Jerks”
To our surprise, the local favorite venue The Chapel was actually once a mortuary. But rather than dwell on the grim beginnings of the hall, two local musicians are embracing the space's name more literally to ring in their nuptials in a way only two musicians in love could: a rock opera. First Friday at The Uptown with Scissors for Lefty Tonight
Continuing what's becoming one of our favorite traditions, The Uptown will host another amazing night of local music with First Friday tonight. Scissors for Lefty, French Cassettes and Alright Class will perform. Scissors for Lefty are back with a brand new EP and a release show this Saturday at the Rickshaw Stop. The EP features five new songs of lean, Brit-inclined uptempo pop from the quartet's recent sessions with Talking House Productions.
