Experience the next wave of Bay Area rock at The Knockout Thursday

Thursday night at the Knockout offers you a chance to experience the latest wave of Bay Area rock, with Michael and the Strange Land, Satan Wriders, bAd bAd, and Brasil all performing. Stockton's Satan Wriders, bAd bAd, and Brasil each released debut full-lengths in the last 12 months, while Michael & The Strange Land released their debut EP in January. All the bands have their own distinctive styles while maintaining plenty of the garage-yness edge Bay Area locals know and love. I won't bore you with describing their various nuances, but instead let you listen to the latest releases from [...]

Stream Satan Wriders’ ‘Black Eyed Kids’ LP

I'm not sure what it is about Stockton, but they seem to have a nice music scene going (read about it on Impose). Satan Wriders have made a great addition to the Stockton scene with the release of Black Eyed Kids, which is now available on vinyl via Harlot for the low low price of $13. Many influences are present - surf, punk, drone, and maybe even a little Lou Reed. Although the influences are widespread, the album is made cohesive by tight rhythms, plenty of fuzz, and a attitude that just makes it seem like the kids are having [...]

Mixtape: Fourteen San Francisco Bands to Watch in 2014

http://media.libsyn.com/media/thebaybridged/Bands_to_Watch_2014.mp3 Download: Mixtape: Fourteen San Francisco Bands to Watch in 2014 We cover a whole lot of San Francisco Bay Area bands at The Bay Bridged, a sign of the wealth of musical talent here. The size of this talent pool, however, presents its own challenge: with so many interesting local bands out there, and with acts emerging seemingly every day, who are the new artists to keep a close eye on in the months to come? This mixtape takes a stab at answering that question, showcasing fourteen excellent local bands that are new to our podcast, young groups with [...]

Video: Satan Wriders – “Freeway”

Stockton's Satan Wriders recently dropped a video for "Freeway", the first single off their debut LP, Black Eyed Kids. Since we first told you about Satan Wriders last year, they hooked up with Harlot Records, a Brooklyn label run by former SF resident Kevin Showkat, who will be releasing Black Eyed Kids on vinyl. While I don't plan on taking the time to decipher all the images I'm seeing in the video for "Freeway", I can just kick back and enjoy the sunny sounds that drew me to Satan Wriders as soon as I heard them. The band doesn't have [...]

Neighbors and Satan Wriders join Cool Ghouls at the Hemlock

Featured on Polyvinyl Records' upcoming I Need You Bad garage rock compilation as well as last months' Vans Classic & San Francisco showcase, Cool Ghouls are showing no signs of slowing down as they gear up for a small West Coast tour. Before heading up to Portland next month, the band will be headlining Hemlock Tavern this Thursday, October 24, along with a stellar, out of town line up. Joining the Ghouls will be Seattle's Neighbors, a four-piece outfit whose power pop riffs and occasionally off-kilter vocals, particularly on "Home," the opening track of their Power Country cassette, make for an endearing, danceable brand of rock and [...]

Best of Submissions from just beyond the Bay: Satan Wriders, Pablo, Feed Me Jack, Finite

We have been getting so many great submissions lately, and we thank all of those hardworking musicians for sending their work our way. Most of our submissions come from local bands, but we get quite a few from artists who live just outside the Bay - and we listen to all of those, too! Today we'll feature a few of our favorite almost-local artists. It took about five seconds for Stockton's Satan Wriders to reel me in with the wonderful surf-rock riff that kicks off their Black Eyed Kids LP. What is it with landlocked Stockton and surfing? Whatever it [...]
