Q&A with Royal Teeth: Louisiana band hits SF while working on new songs

Louisiana pop sextet Royal Teeth will make its third San Francisco stop within a 12-month stretch Thursday, when it headlines at the Chapel. Still touring in support of 2013’s Technicolor debut album, Glow, harmonizing vocalists Nora Patterson and Gary Larsen (also a guitarist), bassist Joshua Wells, drummer Josh Hefner, keyboardist Andrew Poe and guitarist Stevie Billeaud, have had a rush of a first year in national touring. This year I’m trying to keep a thorough list of all the shows I see, so that at the end I can have an accurate list of my favorites. This put the Wednesday performance of British pop band A Silent Film, Louisiana’s Royal Teeth and New York singer-songwriter Jillette Johnson at Slim's in an interesting position for this writer. Each act was very talented. Johnson, who was not even mentioned on the bill, was the most surprising, with her rich voice and talent on the ivories.
