Photo credit: Laura Turbow I don't listen to much Phish, but Oakland-based Pistachio certainly have some musical elements in common with the jam-band legends: eccentric song structures, excellent musicianship, a loose, fun feeling to even the most complex arrangements. Their latest offering "Damn You, Thunderhead" exemplifies all these qualities and the fact that the band excels in genre alchemy, turning a hodgepodge of seemingly contradictory styles into groovy rock and roll gold.
