Music and Mortality: Morgan Bolender, “Free To Roam”
For most, if not all, of us, there comes a day when we confront our own looming death. For Morgan Bolender, that came during a fairly inopportune time: during a party in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains. After not getting anywhere trying to solve death through anger and "aggressive yoga," she surrendered to the idea of impermanence. The result is the haunting "Free To Roam," which addresses, in a stark a cappella, the hardest part of human mortality: saying goodbye.
