Florie Maschmeyer knew immediately what to do when Vela Eyes disbanded in February of 2017. “I was really ready to start another band. It was the next day. I contacted Haley [Scofield] from Sea Witch and asked her, 'You know any girls who play guitar?'" the Bay Area musician who also performs with Humid says. The woman Scofield had in mind was Carissa Quiambao, lead guitarist of the dreamy-folk-pop band the Lavenders. The pair started to work on songs together straight away. Noise Pop: Moon Daze + Bear Call at Noise Pop Happy Hour at Bender’s

Moon Daze (photo: Robert Alleyne) Wednesday evening saw the return of Noise Pop's beloved Happy Hour to Bender's on South Van Ness. With more drink deals than you can shake a stick at, the Happy Hour helps festival goers, as well as general music fans, to prepare for the night ahead. With great music, food, and libations, good vibes were had all around. Moon Daze (photo: Robert Alleyne) Three Bay Area bands: Moon Daze, Bellavista, and Palomas packed Amnesia on Saturday, January 27. The small neighborhood venue on Valencia Street was buzzing from the hazy first notes of Palomas, through the dreamy indie-rock of Moon Daze, to the final chords of Bellavista’s dance-inducing set. Saturday night was a celebration of the exciting and diverse indie music to be found across the Bay Area. One to savor for the yearbooks.
