Live This Month: April 2012 — an audio guide through SF concerts this month (Podcast #276)
Live This Month: April 2012 — an audio guide through SF concerts this month (Podcast #276) In Live This Month, we sample some of the great local and out-of-town bands performing in the coming month in the San Francisco Bay Area. In curating this podcast, we got the nagging feeling that April is a little slow on the local album release front. We're not sure why that is -- Festival fatigue? Buildup for a big summer? -- but it's likely only a momentary blip. A number of exciting new Bay Area records are coming soon, and we're especially psyched about [...]

New Mi Ami track, "Time Of Love" (from forthcoming album, 'Decade')
NYC-SF duo Mi Ami will soon drop their new album, Decade, and they've released this trancey preview track, "Time Of Love." Mi Ami - "Time Of Love" If this song is indicative of the work as a whole, sounds like the new album will be full of experimental electronics instead of guitars, bass, and drums, much like the EP Mi Ami released last year, Dolphins. That was the first Mi Ami release after the band became a duo and decided to completely re-imagine their sound, leaving their dance-punk days behind. Decade comes out March 20th on 100% Silk.
Listen to the ‘I Can Feel The Heat’ 12″ from Magic Touch (Mi Ami’s Damon Palermo)

Palermo's got a 12" out on 100% Silk that you can stream above, and Magic Touch will be performing at Public Works tonight with Teengirl Fantasy and Total Freedom. Magic Touch - "Clubhouse (feat. Live This Month: September 2011 – an audio guide through SF concerts this month (Podcast #256)
Live This Month: September 2011 (Podcast #256) In Live This Month, we sample some of the great local and out-of-town bands performing in the coming month in the San Francisco Bay Area. Two big local-focused events top this month's calendar. First, we're pleased to be co-producing the free, all ages 2011 Rock Make Street Festival, taking place on September 17th at Treat Avenue and 18th Street in the Mission District. Additionally, the Mission Creek Music Festival returns to SF and Oakland for its fifteenth installment this month. Beyond those fests, the September concert calendar seems heavy on out-of-town acts playing [...]

Listen to Mi Ami’s Dolphins 12″; band announces new tour dates
Mi Ami - Dolphins by Mi Ami Dolphins is Mi Ami's first 12" as a duo, out March 15th on Thrill Jockey. Since bass player Jacob Long's departure, the group has swapped out guitars and drums for synthesizers and drum machines. As you can hear above, though, the result feels less like a wholesale reinvention than an intensity repurposed. In other words, it's still Mi Ami, heading in an exiciting new direction. Below, see Mi Ami's East Coast/Midwest/Europe tour dates, and download "Hard Up." Mi Ami - "Hard Up" Mar 11 Brooklyn, NY Pianos Mar 12 Philadelphia, PA Danger Danger [...]

Jacob Long has decided to part ways with Mi Ami in order to spend more time with family and pursue other hobbies. Daniel Martin-McCormick and Damon Palermo wish him well and will carry on under the moniker as a two piece for now. Over the next fews months they will be experimenting with different setups [...]
