Live This Month: June 2015 — an audio guide to upcoming SF concerts
http://media.libsyn.com/media/thebaybridged/LTM_June_2015.mp3 Download: Live This Month: June 2015 (Podcast #364) In Live This Month, we sample some of the great local and out-of-town bands performing in the coming month in the San Francisco Bay Area. A number of the Bay Area bands included in this month's mix are celebrating the release of long-overdue albums, although no band embodies that quite as much as SF band Acid King. The stoner metal group began in 1993; its new album, Middle of Nowhere, Center of Everywhere, arrives a full decade after its predecessor. Listening to "Red River," one might assume that the ten years [...]
Best of the Rest – March 2015 (Cathedrals, King Woman, Male Gaze, Vetiver, & more)
Cathedrals (photo: Jon Bauer) Every month, our editors hear lots of great new music, at shows around the Bay, exploring the far reaches of the Interwebs, and sifting through the veritable deluge of emails from artists and publicists around the globe hawking the latest songs and videos. While we’d love to write about everything that catches our ear, it’s impossible – there’s just too much good music out there. This is an attempt at rounding up the latest and greatest that we didn’t have the bandwidth to cover throughout the month – the Best of the Rest for March 2015 [...]

Mixtape: Hidden Gems from San Francisco Music in 2014
http://media.libsyn.com/media/thebaybridged/Hidden_Gems_2014_Mix.mp3 Download: Mixtape: Catching Up With Some Former Locals (Podcast #350) 2014 was another great year for releases from Bay Area bands, but some of the year's most impressive releases may not have initially received the attention they deserved. Those sorts of oversights are understandable given the volume of new albums coming out year-round. Still, as we approach the time of year when people naturally begin assembling their "Best of 2014" lists, it seemed like the right point to look back at ten of the year's most interesting local releases that may not have gotten their due when they arrived. [...]
Male Gaze dropping new 7″, play Hemlock tonight
Before the release of their debut LP on Castle Face Records later this year, power garage trio Male Gaze is dropping a new 7-inch via another local label, Mt. St. Mtn. Limited until now to only a few demos and high-energy shows, Male Gaze is actually comprised of three dudes who have a great deal of band cred. You might recognize Matt Jones from Blasted Canyons, Mark Kaiser from Mayyors, and Adam Cimino from The Mall. Don’t let the band’s name fool you into a fury of misandry - there’s not a discriminatory vibe in this record. The “Cliffs of [...]
Mixtape: 2014 San Francisco Punk, Post-Punk and Hardcore
http://media.libsyn.com/media/thebaybridged/Punk_Mix_2014.mp3 Download: Mixtape: 2014 San Francisco Punk, Post-Punk and Hardcore (Podcast #334) In 2012, ancient by Internet standards, we showcased a mixtape of local punk, post-punk and hardcore bands that featured terrific groups like Ceremony, Loma Prieta, Terry Malts, Wild Moth, and Synthetic ID. Since then, we've seen a number of promising new bands emerge -- Scraper, Creative Adult, and others we've showcased on the podcast in the interim -- but it felt like high time to do a deeper dive back into Bay Area punk. This mix includes twenty-two Bay Area punk, post-punk and hardcore bands that we haven't [...]
