Exclusive: A documentary short about Makeunder

Back in October, we posted a teaser of a forthcoming documentary short from Nic Buron about the band Makeunder. Today, we're proud to premiere the full video. In 2012, Oakland's Hamilton Ulmer found himself in Texas cleaning his childhood home. As a way to cope with family loss, Ulmer did they only thing he could think to do: make music. Preview: A documentary short featuring Makeunder

In 2012, Bay Area based musician Hamilton Ulmer released the EP 'Radiate Satellite' under the name Makeunder. Ulmer recorded the entire album in just five nights as he was alone cleaning out his childhood home in Texas. He recorded the album with the internal microphone on his laptop and a few recently inherited instruments. One year later, Ulmer is recording his full length follow-up and performing with a band that swells to nearly double digits. This is a teaser for Bay Bridged contributor Nic Buron's upcoming documentary short about Ulmer's journey creating the band Makeunder. "We'll be premiering a lot of new material, adding some [...]

Makeunder set to play first live show at El Rio, 3/23/13

San Francisco's Makeunder began in Hamilton Ulmer's childhood home in rural California, where he recorded his entire debut with a laptop mic, a violin, a saxophone, and drums. The experimental pop EP Radiate, Satellite takes layers upon layers of Ulmer's instruments and vocals to produce music that will most likely remind you of Oakland's tUnEyArDs, yet still surprise you plenty along the way with constantly changing volumes and tempos. Since releasing the EP last summer, Hamilton has established a seven-piece band that will be making their debut performance Saturday night at El Rio, where they will play Radiate, Satellite in [...]
