Video: Lilac – "Shame"

LA-via-San Francisco trio Lilac have released a new video for "Shame," a single from their debut full-length. Christine is the follow-up to their self-titled EP, recorded at Different Fur Studios last year. Directed by Chris Letson and Ryan Doherty, the video projects kaleidoscopic visuals over a silhouette of the band performing the song. Beneath the shimmering psychedelic surface, however, lies a slightly darker concept. Lilac's founding members Will Ivy and Kristen Knick conceived the album together during a break-up, inspired by inner turmoil and raw emotion. As explained in a recent interview with Garbage Dress, "Shame" is based on Pauline [...]

Song Premiere: Lilac – "Shame"

Lilac made a promising debut back in 2011 with their self-titled EP, a mix of psych-pop and rock and roll that properly introduced the band to the Bay Area scene. Comprised originally of Will Ivy (BRIDEZ, Honey, Hunx and his Punx, Girls) and Kirsten Knick, the band has since grown to a trio with the addition of bassist Chrys Nodal. In addition to the expanded lineup, the year 2012 means a proper full-length from Lilac - Christine, due out May 22nd via Different Fur. There will also be a cassette release sometime in the future of all Lilac material recorded [...]

Noise Pop 2012: Veronica Falls, Bleached, Brilliant Colors, Lilac @ Rickshaw Stop 2/24/12

It is a truth universally acknowledged that a person in possession of a band must be in want of great hair. Last Friday night at the Rickshaw Stop, which featured four sets of fuzzy guitars, was no exception. Unfortunately I missed Lilac’s set, but I did catch the band’s frontman, Will Ivy, who recently moved down to Los Angeles after six years in the Bay Area. But don’t weep: Half the band is still in San Francisco, so hopefully that means they’ll keep playing shows up here every once in a while. He also cut his signature hair since I [...]

Saturday: Strange Dog 2 with Rank/Xerox, Terry Malts, Dick Dog, Lilac

The second installment of the show series Strange Dogs continues to dig a little deeper into the Bay Area rock scene with Rank/Xerox, Dick Dog (San Ramon) and Lilac, who we believe is an offshoot of the loud psych-rock collective Honey. If you're on the prowl for a fresh local find, try Terry Malts: this post-punk trio is refreshingly loud, refreshingly Ramones-venerating, and undeniably your warehouse dance party initiators. Strange Dog 2 will be set way out in Bayview at the "Widowmaker Warehouse" (8pm, $5). Rank/Xerox - "Muscle Dogs"
