Volar Records – Under the Covers Vol. 2 cassette out now

San Diego punk label Volar Records just released a 200-cassette run of a tribute to 70s power-pop hitmakers Paul Collins, Peter Case and Jack Lee. The trio started out in San Francisco as The Nerves before branching into other projects (The Beat, The Plimsouls); they were also behind "When You Find Out" and that one song "Hanging on the Telephone." Several contributors to Under the Covers Vol. 2 come out of the San Francisco garage-pop scene: Grass Widow, Hunx & His Punx, The Moonhearts, The Mantles, Personal and the Pizzas, and White Fence. Hunx & His Punx signs to Hardly Art for spring LP

Congratulations to local retro-pop ensemble Hunx & His Punx for announcing that their second LP will be released on Hardly Art next spring! Don't know the back story of Hunx? It's juicy. Founder Seth Bogart once hailed as a member of Gravy Train!!!!, and as the story goes, moved out to AZ where he mingled with Nobunny. Though returning home with a broken heart, being back in the Bay hasn't been a bad thing for Bogart. The Bay Bridged Presents: Noise Pop 2010 Happy Hour

[media id=30 width=530 height=300] This year's Noise Pop 2010 Festival was a blast, and on top of the two shows The Bay Bridged presented at the Swedish American this year, we also hosted a Noise Pop Happy Hour at Bender's with Hunx & His Punx, Spencey Dude & the Doodles, and Weekend. Thanks to the event's sponsors, Fernet Branca and Noise Pop, we were able to have some fun with both the bands and attendees, shown in the video above. Again, we'd like to thank everyone that made our Happy Hour such a packed and exciting event.
