Happy Fangs calls it quits, leaves us with a parting video
Sad news, San Franciscans: Beloved good-time rock 'n' roll band Happy Fangs announced yesterday on their Facebook page that they are parting ways. Citing a desire to move on "to other projects," the band posted an update yesterday afternoon alerting fans to the news. "No band makes things happen on their own," they said, "and mountains of appreciation go out to everyone that was there along the way." No word yet on what the other projects are, but we'll keep an eye out. However, there's a bit of good news: They've premiered one final video over at PopMatters, and it's [...]
The Chapel’s wedding bells are ringing for two local “Love, Jerks”
To our surprise, the local favorite venue The Chapel was actually once a mortuary. But rather than dwell on the grim beginnings of the hall, two local musicians are embracing the space's name more literally to ring in their nuptials in a way only two musicians in love could: a rock opera. That's right, Bryan Garza of Scissors for Lefty and Rebecca Bortman of Happy Fangs are set to perform the opera they call "Love, Jerks" as a part of next week's wedding ceremony. Want a taste of what's to come? You can peep the opera's eponymously-titled track, what the two call an [...]

Interview: Happy Fangs comes alive on their debut LP ‘Capricorn’
Happy Fangs plays rock n’ roll. Not exactly a revolutionary statement, but an increasingly rare one to see in an era when most bands consider themselves innovative, genre-bending hybrids that couldn’t possibly be classified but inevitably are, usually resulting in such circumlocutory labels as ‘electro/indie/folk/industrial punk’ or ‘psychedelic/doom/dream pop.’ Intriguing descriptions, yes, but sometimes I prefer the elegant simplicity of a straightforward statement such as, ‘Happy Fangs plays rock n’ roll.’ That’s not to say the band is simple, however. Happy Fangs has as many influences running through their veins as the most pretentious art school dropouts who refuse to [...]

Happy Fangs – “Contagious”
Any band with a Halloween leaning name is going to grab a double-take during October, and gritty powerhouse Happy Fangs went all in. This Saturday Rich Girls will be hitting Bottom of the Hill with local lady-fronted friends Everyone Is Dirty and Happy Fangs. Signed to Tricycle Records, Rich Girls is the highly anticipated solo-project of Luisa Black, formerly of The Blacks. With a voice at once hypnotizing and down-to-earth, Black carries her weight as an enigmatic force with Gothic hints. According to her, she's "always chasing the perfect reverb." Don't miss this estrogen fueled night that's sure to be filled with swirling pop with a bite. Check out Rich Girls' music video for "Sink Like Stones" below. Listen to the debut EP [...]
