Golden Void’s crushing grooves coming to Bottom of the Hill this Friday Night
Masters of Bay Area psych-rock Golden Void are playing a one-off show this Friday night at Bottom of the Hill. Celebrating the release of their new LP Berkana, the band cements their status as headtrip heroes able to dish out some of the most crushing grooves, chunky riffs and dense sonic arrangements around. Tracks like the ethereal "Astral Plane" and jazz-tinged "Silent Season" also see the group expand to the outer reaches of the genre. Though the term "psych-rock" is casually tossed at any band that dials up the reverb and writes songs that stretch pass the four-minute mark, Golden [...]
Live This Month: September 2015 — an audio guide to upcoming SF concerts
http://media.libsyn.com/media/thebaybridged/LTM_September_2015.mp3 Download: Live This Month: September 2015 (Podcast #370) In Live This Month, we sample some of the great local and out-of-town bands performing in the coming month in the San Francisco Bay Area. How has it taken this long to include Chelsea Wolfe in one of our podcasts? Wolfe started out in Sacramento before relocating to LA, and over the course of four albums has defined a unique mix of heavy doom and gothic folk. "Iron Moon" comes from her new album, Abyss, and it highlights both sides of her sound very well. Speaking of Sacramento, our state capital [...]
Golden Void offers first single from new LP ‘Berkana’
It's been three years since stellar local psych-rock band Golden Void first impressed us with the band's self-titled debut. Come September, the quartet will release its second LP, Berkana, on Thrill Jockey. The band -- Isaiah Mitchell (guitar/vocals), Camilla Saufley-Mitchell (keyboards/vocals), Aaron Morgan (bass) and Justin Pinkerton (drums) -- recorded the new album at Tim Green's Grass Valley studio, layering instruments to add new depth to the top-notch heaviness. Check out "Dervishing" below and mark September 19th on your calendar. That's when Golden Void will be co-headlining The Chapel and celebrating Berkana's release. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nwx26cwZWSY Golden Void, Mermen, Kehoe International The [...]

Campout at Bandit Town, USA over Labor Day weekend
Bandit Town, USA sounds like a fictional wonderland, the wet dream of any biker, rock and roller, tattooed vagabond, or city dweller looking for a quick get away. Thanks to Jen McMillan of Bandit Brand, the mastermind who resurrected Bandit Town from the ashes of an old ghost town, everyone has a new favorite party destination. Located in the geographical center of California, just outside of North Fork and about four hours from both San Francisco and Los Angeles, Bandit Town has all the fixings of a Wild West movie set: a saloon with swinging doors, a giant horse corral, a tiny [...]
