Gentleman Surfer is the brainchild of Jon Bafus (ex-Sholi), who writes, arranges, and performs all of the project's songs. In November 2011, he released Bountiful Ore, a 12-track collection of instrumental tunes ranging in style from synthed-out victory lap music to jazzy, percussive numbers. Bafus also drums in the band Appetite, a skill at the forefront of many Ore songs.
