Playlist: Our lost year, captured.

(Rexx Life Raj photo: Salihah Saadiq) It's been a year and a week since the Bay Area collectively dimmed the lights on our venues — not that you needed a reminder. And while we'll all be glad to retire words like "pandemic," "unprecedented," and "quarantine" from our vernacular later this year, "defund," "Karen," and "climate change" are likely here to stay. Isolation, grief, survival, wildfires, and yes, [...]

5 Bay Area Albums You May Have Missed in 2020

Words by William Wayland As I write this, nationwide deaths from COVID-19 are expected to surpass 600,000 in only a few months. We’re close to a year without live music and it’s just hard to watch shows on Zoom. I applaud everyone who's trying but it’s just not the same. Right? Is it just me? This isn’t a “Best Of”, it’s just a few words about local music you may have missed because [...]

And we have a pair of tickets to give away so you can go and support local venues while they're still around. Instructions on how [...]

French Cassettes are back with new track “City Kitty”

Over the weekend, they hosted a release party at El Rio specifically for this moment. From there, they celebrated their release of the limited edition 7", which will have the aforementioned song along with an unreleased B-side. According to Earmilk, keep your ears open for an upcoming album in the future. Welcome back, guys! Have a listen to the new song below.
