The Matches (photo: Brittany O'Brien) For the first time since 2009, Oakland band The Matches played The Fillmore on Monday night, December 28, 2015, with support from fellow local band Finish Ticket. The band had been on hiatus since 2009 and played a few select reunion shows through 2014, but there wasn't a better way to close out 2015 than a night of back-to-back shows from the local favorites at one of San Francisco's finest venues. A few years ago, Finish Ticket were one of many up-and-coming Bay Area bands trying to break through to the national stage. Following a a tour opening for Twenty One Pilots and Echosmith, it's fair to say they're almost there.
