Fever Charm releases new single “Buenos Aires”

Oakland-based pop-rock outfit Fever Charm has a new single out. Entitled "Buenos Aires," the tune is characteristically catchy, kicking off with a fuzzed-out bass line before revealing the addicting vocal melody. The chorus recalls the spirit of early Weezer, a dose of power-pop that achieves a fine balance between fist-in-the-air rock chords and endearingly sentimental lyrics. If you were already aware of the band before this track, it will remind you why you fell in love with these guys in the first place. If this is your introduction to the group, well, welcome to the fan club. [...]

Interview: Fever Charm brings you the sound of summer

On the very first track of Oakland-based Fever Charm’s new EP, lead vocalist Ari Berl sings, “I’ve been waiting for the sound of summer.” He must have not listened to his own music because Fever Charm is the sound of summer. There hasn’t been a pop/rock record this infectiously catchy since Weezer dropped The Blue Album twenty years ago. When asked to describe their music to those woefully unfamiliar with the group, they immediately hesitated, like all artists who are reluctant to distill their years of hard work, passion and commitment down to a simple, succinct tagline. After a few [...]

Fever Charm delivers the hooks on “Still Have You”

Times are tough for Oakland: the Warriors are moving across the Bay Bridge, tech companies prefer to keep their business in San Francisco or San Jose, and the city may very well lose Fever Charm, an indie-pop gem of a band, to the mainstream soon. With such an addictive new single, “Still Have You,” unleashed upon the world, how could they not? It sounds a bit like something Weezer would have produced in their heyday or, if you want a reference from this particular century (you millennial snob), it could possibly pass as a joint collaboration by Grouplove and Cage [...]

Get to Know: Oakland’s Fever Charm

Fever Charm's deliriously catchy new single "Moonshine" is yet another reason why the future of the Bay Area music scene arguably lies across the bridge.  Oh, let me specify: the Bay Bridge. This Oakland-based four-piece makes what virtually every single lazy blogger out there will inevitably label 'indie pop,' an atrociously tenuous blanket term used to describe any sound neither mainstream enough for the Katy Perry audience nor edgy/grungy/scuzzy enough for the Ty Segall-worshiping quasi-punk kids.  If the universe made any sort of logical sense (c'mon Neil deGrasse Tyson, quite hoarding all the answers, we know you have them!), "Moonshine" [...]
