Dust off your ugly floral shirts and your darkest eyeliner: Our House is back with a second installment of their doubly-themed post-Halloween dance party, Gothic Luau, featuring a reunion from headliners Jeffertitti's Nile, and great locals Down and Outlaws and Everyone is Dirty. The Our House artist collective has only been putting on shows for a little more than a year, but they're as prolific as they are full of ideas. We chatted with one third of the collective, Bay Bridged contributor Lauren Espina, about their beginnings, the silly story of how the Gothic Luau came to be, and, most importantly, [...]

Flier by Karli A. Helm As the list of Halloween weekend events grows bigger and bigger, so does our excitement about our very own Halloween show that we're putting on with Wave Dweller! Part covers show, part spooky vibes, part local band appreciation night, "Night of the Living Shreds" is guaranteed to be a concert to remember. To ring in Halloween week, we asked Wave Dweller and the bands on the bill to pick their favorite songs from this holiday season. Here's what they chose... Wave Dweller: "Wolf at the Door" - Radiohead This song has a real eerie sway about it. [...]

It seems Mad Alchemy, aka Lance Gordon and team, have their light-bending hands in all the psychedelic meanderings on the West Coast, and it’s not hard to see why. They’ve perfected a signature style of analog projections that leave artists drenched in liquid color, transforming any ordinary stage into a portal to celestial pastures. Tomorrow, September 10, Mad Alchemy is bringing their overhead projectors to Leo’s, where a local lineup will power a psychedelic dance party. Oakland favorites Sugar Candy Mountain and Everyone is Dirty will set a rock and roll tone before soul outfit Harry & the Hitmen closes [...]

Tricycle Records throwing benefit show for Sivan Lioncub of Everyone Is Dirty this Sunday at Bottom of the Hill

As we told you back in February, Everyone Is Dirty’s Sivan Lioncub has been suffering from liver failure due to an allergic reaction to Augmentin, an antibiotic she was taking to treat pneumonia. Back then, some of her closest pals banded together to throw a benefit show to help with her mounting medical bills, and now Tricycle Records – the label that released Everyone Is Dirty's debut LP, 2014's Dying Is Fun – is throwing its hat in the ring to help support this unique and vibrant Bay Area musician. This Sunday at Bottom of the Hill, Tricycle Records presents [...]

Our House warehouse show morphs into benefit for Everyone Is Dirty frontwoman Sivan Lioncub

Sivan Lioncub of Oakland art-rock outfit Everyone Is Dirty has had a major league health care scare, and her friends are rallying to help her while she literally and figuratively gets back on her feet. The first step? This Saturday's show presented by Our House (the arts collective founded by Lioncub, Annie Lepitz, and our own Lauren Espina) has been transformed into a benefit to help Lioncub with her medical costs, which continue to pile up despite her insurance. Everyone Is Dirty is no longer on the bill, and Down and Outlaws, Annie Girl & The Flight, and Fpod [...]
