Bay Area’s own Tia Nomore, Ricky Lake, Wade08 to back YBN Cordae at New Parish

Photo by Amy Lombard OK, look: We love YBN Cordae. The North Carolina rapper possesses a bonafide pen — he fired legit shots to all the old heads in J. Cole's "1985" diss and is a lyrical beacon among what some may call a misguided, if not misunderstood, rap generation. To have YBN Cordae hit the Bay so soon after his Chance the Rapper-assisted song, "Bad Idea" drop is a treat, and we swear it. BUT — let's not ignore the other mic wizards supporting him tonight. DUCKWRTH, a Bay Area-affiliate by way of south central LA, released his EP [...]

The LA native currently living in San Francisco just released a short film, "TRAVEL", connecting his tracks "TRAVEL", "VOLTRON", and "FATLACE CHUX" into a trip through SF, a magical corner store, and Crenshaw. The video was directed by Israel Ramos of Hungrie Ones and costars Oakland's Queens D. Light, (who just released an album you can listen to after the video.) DUCKWRTH released TAXFREE V.1 earlier this year, and [...]

Catch Le Vice, DUCKWRTH, & sayknowledge tonight at Elbo Room

Friday night, Le Vice headlines a night of live hip-hop at the Elbo Room, with support from RGLND & DUCKWRTH and sayknowledge - all artists that have released new material in the past 6 months. The lineup showcases a wide range of Bay Area hip-hop, which in my humble opinion features some of the most innovative and forward-thinking local artists in the Bay these days. Le Vice, whose music definitely includes the raps, but probably shouldn't be confined released their LP The Payoff late last year, and their video for “Jamir’s Bed Part I” premiered here on the Bay Bridged: [...]
