The Devil Makes Three releases new LP and kicks off tour
Photo: Piper Ferguson The Devil Makes Three, the Santa Cruz-via-East Coast folk pros, have announced their latest album, I'm a Stranger Here, out now as their first release from New West Records. The classic Americana record has received praise from the likes of Rolling Stone and Paste, and is jazzy, bluesy, and just as gritty as when they graced the HSB stage last month. The newest release—which was recorded at Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys' Easy Eye Sound Studio in Nashville—is upbeat. It jumps and shakes, and should get you doing the same. What better way to capture timeless yet spicy folkabilly, in three-part harmonies and natural rhythm, than a live studio session? The EP includes four tracks and audio of the interview, and is available digitally on iTunes. Devil Makes Three - "Do Wrong [...]
Devil Makes Three Thurs. and Fri. at The Independent
While their own press release describes them as "punky vintage American backporch blues," there's a lot more to Santa Cruz's The Devil Makes Three than a blues band. This three-piece manages to blend the grace of acoustic music with the energy of a rock band. They will play this Friday and Saturday, Jan. 16th and 17th, at The Independent, presented by KPIG. The Devil Makes Three - "Old Number Seven" Because they play a breed of American music that most indie circuits are not used to, the descriptions are particularly amusing to read. Songs:Illinois described the sound as [...]
