Deer Tick to showcase their duality on Twice Is Nice tour

Earlier this summer, Deer Tick announced both their first new music to arrive in four years and a return to San Francisco on their upcoming Twice is Nice tour. For two nights, on Tuesday and Wednesday, November 7 and 8, Deer Tick will perform songs from across their history, including their newest dual-concept discs. Deer Tick will have a comedian opening every show on the tour, and each show will feature two sets of music: one acoustic and one electric. The group's new albums, Deer Tick Vol. 1 and Deer Tick Vol. 2, feature covers displaying bottles of mustard and ketchup, and the idea of [...]

Outside Lands 2014: Your Guide to SF’s Biggest Summer Musical Experience

Outside Lands 2014 show poster (DKNG Studios) It's that time of year again – the yearning masses will descend upon San Francisco this weekend for the City's now hallmark summer musical experience Outside Lands. Yep, the seventh edition of the gigantic gig in Golden Gate Park kicks off Friday at noon and, as you've undoubtedly learned by now, it will be headlined by none other than Kanye, Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers, and The Killers. Perhaps the pressures of corporate sponsorship and a highly anticipated "sold out" show Wednesday at The Independent put the pressure on Deer Tick to perform, because boy, did they put on some kind of show. Staged in between two T-Mobile spotlights, the Rhode Island quartet took to the stage in feathered masks, and an onslaught of [...]
