Abbot Kinney play Great American Music Hall this Saturday

Playing the renowned Great American Music Hall for the first time is a milestone that would make any local musician giddy. For singer-songwriter Jared Swanson, frontman of Abbot Kinney, it's a symbolic next step in his musical career. He explains to The Bay Bridged, "Long before moving to San Francisco, the spirit of the Great American Music Hall loomed. Its rich history dripped down to Los Angeles. In addition to being where Journey and Jerry Garcia's solo career debuted, it was designed by a French architect and was originally named after a notorious Barbary Coast house of prostitution. I've since seen a dozen shows [...]

Dangermaker release new EP ‘Light The Dark II’

San Francisco pop-rock outfit Dangermaker is about to finish what they started. Last September, the band released the first half of their EP Light The Dark. In September they brought you part two, and the sequel in this case is as good as the original. Opener "Disappear" channels The Cult's early glam days, "In Vain" showcases hooky '80s synths and a huge vocal melody, and "Never Go Back" rounds it all out with a Killers-like crescendo, featuring a driving beat and chanting chorus that falls somewhere between heartsick yearning and undaunted resilience. Though dark at times, Dangermaker has found a [...]

The album is slated for release in September, but we have their newest single "Disappear" available for you to listen to right now. Live 105’s BFD 2015 lineup abounds with local independent acts

Live 105 bills itself as "The Bay Area's Alternative," and the radio station is living up to this title with its BFD 2015 lineup, which was announced this morning. Headlined by indie rock stalwarts Modest Mouse, Icelandic indie-folkers Of Monsters And Men, and indie-pop act Panic! At The Disco, and with main stage support from the likes of Cold War Kids and Atlas Genius, BFD 2015 will also feature a host of local independent bands playing three of the festival's four stages on June 6 at Shoreline Amphitheatre. That's right, this year's iteration of the alternative radio station's summer [...]

Premiere: Dangermaker releases “Light The Dark” EP

Dangermaker has been bringing a pop, indie, and electronic sound to the Bay Area for months now, establishing a name with their danceable songs. Now, the band continues to progress with their newest EP, Light The Dark. The release offers a sound that is catchy and easy to listen to: poppy, yet sophisticated enough not to be overlooked as radio-forged. The album's leading track, "Something More," is a heavy, synth-infused song that is electric and powerful, while the closer, "The Light," is an intricate and carefully woven ballad. The EP is a huge step from the group's debut album, Black Dream, and it [...]

Dangermaker release music video for “The Light”

Local alternative rock band Dangermaker are back at it with a new video for their song, "The Light." The video is a black-and-white silhouetted montage of images, featuring portraits of each band member, and juxtaposing scenes of city landscapes - such as tunnels, streets, and lights. Matching the song effectively, it takes you on a sensational ride between dark and light. The song is an anthemic and dramatic track that finds the rock outfit taking on a much more mature sound, moving into an adult-rock / alternative-rock sector that is reminiscent of the early 2000s. Just coming back from the [...]

Dangermaker serves up video for “Wake Up”

In anticipation of their upcoming full-length, Black Dream, Dangermaker recently released their video for their single, "Wake Up." The music video is a dark panning shot of the band performing the song on stage, with lead singer Adam Burnett cloaked in all black (plus a striped tie). The song is an indie rock ballad, featuring synths, some early 00's drum and bass rhythm, and melodic guitars. Burnett's vocals are high and electric, and come to a screeching halt when breaking into the chorus, "Wake up / Wake up / I think I'm ready / I think I'm ready / To wake [...]
