Watch Cumstain get chased down by Hulk Hogan in their new video for “I’m Not Mean”

Cumstain are known for being sleazy and nostalgic and their video for "I'm Not Mean" does not change that. Actually, it only proves how wonderful their sleazy nostalgia truly is. Watch Sean, Pookie, and Erin get chased by a dinosaur and Hulk Hogan. Although Hulk Hogan is a total sleazeball, it doesn't mean many still have a very warm part for him in our hearts. Come on, remember the 1991 film Suburban Commando? I used to worship that movie, watching it with wide eyes with my older brothers, and wishing I was cool like Hulk Hogan. Then dinosaurs are just cooler than all [...]

The Gooch Palms are landing their UFO in Oakland on 10/1

Coming all the way from the interstellar city of Newcastle, Australia, where they’re already making a name for themselves, The Gooch Palms are currently my favorite band. I’ve seen them twice this year: Burger Boogaloo and The Chapel SF with Panda Kid and Susan. I have a photo of Kat in my phone with some Mickey Mouse earrings on, which I spontaneously gave her that night at The Chapel, because that was when I fell in love with The Gooch Palms. They have a stage presence that is so vivid and uncontained, which is remarkable because it’s only two of them. [...]

First listen: Cumstain’s new cassingle

As someone who spends too much time listening to music, I have specific tunes for every occasion. My favorite “LET'S PRETEND EVERYTHING IS OK AND I'M NOT HAVING AN EXISTENTIAL CRISIS” tunes are those bands connected to the Burger Records scene. I first discovered the local scene in 2011 when Hunx And His Punx opened for Wavves and Best Coast. I had found a scene I felt right in. A scene obsessed with nostalgia and just having a good time. With a lot of these bands it’s hard to put them in one genre. They tend to mix all rock [...]

Apache and the return of Ghost Town Gallery

If you were to search "Ghost Town Gallery" here on this very site, you would see that they have been an on-again, off-again, legendary venue for years. Bands that have graced its stage include The Babies, Uzi Rash, and Nobunny, (rumor is there was even a bouncy house). They were quiet for a while, but now Ghost Town Gallery is back and they're coming back with a big bang. This Saturday, a Jurassic Party is set to explode. Local bands Apache, who recently played (Burger Boogaloo), Pookie & the Poodlez, Cumstain, and Jesus Dude Mom are planned to make a roar [...]

Total Trash 2014 revealed

Hunx & his Punx (with Shannon of the Clams) at Burger Boogaloo 2012 Sure you gotsta see Bonnie "Prince" Billy in Golden Gate Park this weekend but then what?! It's still 168 shopping days until SXSW. Good news – Total Trash is on the way. From The Creator of the Burger Boogaloo comes the red (and green) headed stepchild. Total Trash IS the primordial sludge from which emerges thee best in rock 'n' roll. If you can handle it... But don't take my word for it. Here it is right from the mouth of The Creator: This rock and roll [...]
