Connan Mockasin premiering new LP and film at Castro Theatre
(photo: Sam Kristofski) Connan Mockasin will premiere his first publicly-released film Bostyn ’n Dobsyn and third record Jassbusters at San Francisco's Castro Theatre on Monday, October 15. Twenty years in development, Bostyn ’n Dobsyn is a five-part melodrama film that is intended to be watched before listening to Jassbusters. The record was recorded with a full band shortly after filming. The concept for these complementary works follows the story of a fictional music teacher, Bostyn (played by Connan Mockasin), and his student, Dobson (played by Blake Pryor). It hasn’t been four months since Connan Mockasin last played in San Francisco, yet the psych-pop artist’s next show approaches quickly at The Independent on Thursday, May 15th. Photo: Jen Carey New Zealand's Connan Mockasin will be hitting Bottom of the Hill this Wednesday with Oakland's experimental lo-fi duo Disappearing People and San Francisco's electro pop project Faux Canada. Connan Mockasin (born Connan Tant Hosford) just released Caramel in November via Mexican Summer. The new album is a spacey psych pop sensorium, wherein Mockasin wails and waxes on human sensuality.
