New video from Birds & Batteries + 7/11/10 show at Cafe du Nord

Lightning (UTNG Version) by Birds & Batteries from Up To No Good from Birds & Batteries on Vimeo. Birds & Batteries' new video fuses "Lightning" (from Up to No Good) with a vintage clip by Len Lye circa 1935. The result is spastic and whimsical, matching aptly with the band's tangy electro. Birds & Batteries are scheduled to headline at Cafe du Nord on July 11th (8:00 pm, $10/advance, $12/door, 21+), along with the Moanin' Dove and Grand Hallway (from Seattle).

Audio Visual – Jill of Birds & Batteries

Audio Visual is a 10 part series exploring the fashion choices of local musicians. The Bay Area music scene is nothing if not diverse and this noncomformity is as evident in clothing as it is in music. With this in mind, Audio Visual strives to analyze the connection between the sartorial choices of musicians and their work. Part of a burgeoning electro-indie pop wave, Birds & Batteries have more than left their mark on the San Francisco scene. Their particular brand of sophisticated, beautifully structured and incredibly hooky pop recalls private eyes, crooks and villians and retro-futuristic film. In the [...]

Review: Birds & Batteries, Judgement Day, Sister Crayon @ Rickshaw 5/28

Photos by: Irja Elisa In a city with heavy feet, three bands expertly got the kids dancing at the Rickshaw Stop last Friday. Spinning Platters presented a lineup that was a young folks' response to the confines of classical music - making technically excellent music with fierce rawness and energy. "Sister Crayon blew my mind," was the refrain from both Birds & Batteries and Judgement Day, which was an apt description for this up-and-coming Sacramento band. Singer Terra Lopez's wild and vulnerable singing is the ghost of a soul singer. The band uses a combination of live and electric drumming [...]

Birds & Batteries + Judgement Day, a co-headlining bonanza 5/28/10

In the midst of SF Popfest 2010, the Rickshaw Stop will host yet another noteworthy bill on Friday, May 28th (10:00 pm, $10/adv, $12/door, all ages) - a show that will trade indie pop for reverberating synths and strings. Birds & Batteries will co-headline with Judgement Day, preceded by Sacramento's Sister Crayon, in a show presented by Spinning Platters. Cobra Strike by Judgement Day Birds & Batteries have returned from a U.S. tour just in time for Friday's show, and with a new remix in tow. Odawas took a stab at re-creating B&B's "The Villain," and the result is the [...]

Singles + tourdates: Birds & Batteries, Judgement Day, Sugar & Gold

The week's chosen bands all share a few similarities: they've recently released new singles, are about to embark on national tours, and two of the three are stopping in Austin this week for SxSW. Before releasing Panorama, Birds & Batteries shelled out the free download "Out in the Woods," an "extended prog-house jam" sampling both the upcoming record and their last record, Up To No Good. While in Austin, B&B will be playing our Bay Area Takeover at the Beauty Bar, as well as other shows (listed after the jump). On a similar game plan is the local stringed metal [...]
