’30 Days, 30 Songs’ features music from Bhi Bhiman, Thao Nguyen

Local literary lighthouse Dave Eggers has put together a brand new independent project to raise awareness and urge voters to avoid Donald Trump in November by fighting politics with music. Launched on October 10, 30 days ahead of the presidential election, Eggers and his team unveiled '30 Days 30 Songs,' a daily playlist that features a mix of older tunes along with brand-new songs inspired by the turbulent race. In the first week, Bay Area artists will be featured. San Francisco's Thao Nguyen will have a track featured as well as Peninsula resident Bhi Bhiman. Bhiman's track, "With Love, From Russia" [...]

Mixtape: Songs to accompany your Woodyspotting

Lauded director Woody Allen and his film crew descended upon San Francisco recently to begin work on an upcoming movie, giving rise to the sport of Woodyspotting. Here's how it works: San Francisco residents take to Twitter to report on Woody's latest filming location. Simple, right? As a tribute to the acclaimed filmmaker, we've compiled a collection of songs inspired by his often oddball, but nonetheless illustrious, film career. (Note: you’ll have to be logged in to Spotify to enjoy it) 1. Bhi Bhiman, "Equal In My Tea": From SF troubadour Bhi Bhiman comes a pitch-perfect example of how Allen's [...]

Video: Bhi Bhiman – "Time Heals"

"Time Heals" - Bhi Bhiman from Bhi Bhiman on Vimeo. San Francisco singer-songwriter Bhi Bhiman has released a new stop-motion animated music video for his song "Time Heals" from his forthcoming album BHIMAN out January 24th on BooCoo Music (the album is streaming on Spinner this week). The video, directed by Liam Hurley and Sam Kassirer, uses photographs of Bhiman in 662 different facial expressions and 4,000 shots of animation. For more of the directors' perspective and about Bhiman's new album, head over to IFC: We were drawn to the theme of time in this song, with a concept of 'moving collage' in mind," [...]

Nneka and Bhi Bhiman tonight at Red Devil Lounge

In case you haven't noticed, the Red Devil Lounge is shedding its oft pigeon-holey description of being a cover bands only spot by mixing up their billing with some really great music. Coming up tonight happens to be one of those non-cover band evenings. Kicking off the evening will be a favorite of mine, Bhi Bhiman, bringing his sometimes quirky, sometimes deep, always lyrically and vocally rich, neo-folk that is sure to be one hell of a good time. You can read our previous coverage of him here and here. Bhi Bhiman - Telouise Coming as a very [...]

Sat: Bhi Bhiman and Stone Foxes Reunite at Hotel Utah

If you're a reader of The Bay Bridged then you're well aware of The Stone Foxes residency at the Hotel Utah for the month of October. For this second of four Saturday night shows (8:30pm, $10), Bhi Bhiman reunites with The Stone Foxes. I saw them split a bill at the Red Devil Lounge last fall and let me tell you, they are sure as shit two peas in a pod. Bhi's stripped down acoustic show accompanied with his witty lyrical lashings provide a perfect counterpoint to the Stone Foxes' balls-to-the-wall rockin'. Bhi Bhiman - Telouise [...]

A Little Bit Acoustic, A Whole Lotta Rock – Telegraphics, Bhi Bhiman, Stone Foxes and Strangefeather @ Red Devil Lounge

It had been a while since my last visit to the Red Devil Lounge, the last time being a stop in to check out a friend of a friend in a 90s cover band. My experience this time couldn't be more different from my previous one. Being a little worn out from a long week, I started off the evening with one of the house specials, the Starfucker, a double rockstar and vodka. Getting the boost I needed I was ready to take on an evening of some blues-rock, 70s throwback sound. Kicking off the evening were my East Bay [...]
